I have a Panasonic TX28DK-2, 28" standard widescreen TV. About 5 minutes ago my TV made a loud "bang" noise then the screen went all white/v.light grey, the speakers started humming V.Loudly, The TV then turned it self off. I could then smell a burning noise, tried to turn it back on same thing happend so i unplugged everything and left the room.
Any idea what the problem is and around how much it is going to cost me to repair? PS- the TV has been trouble free for a v.long time!

- Thanx 4 the quick reply mate but its an exaggeration when i say a loud bang. Wasnt that loud the humming from the speakers was a little more disturbing thanks for trying to help tho mate much appreciated.
Anyone else have any ideas? electrolytic capacitor perhaps causing the loud humming before it turned off? Flyback Transformer maybe? I havent got a clue!!

I have an older 32" Toshiba TV. Starting two days ago, the TV refuses to turn OFF. When I try to turn it off (using the remote/switch on the TV), the sound goes off but the video still stays on, so that the power button functions like a mute button now. Any ideas what could be wrong?
