Question about Hitachi 51F500 51" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Hitachi 51f500 Sound Issue

The sound coming out of the left speaker is out on my Hitachi. There is no sound on the left when I run the sound thru my stereo, so I am pretty sure the amp inside the tv is bad.

Question is, can this be fixed in the field? If so, how? I am an experienced component-level technician (have de-soldered and replaced 256 pin chips) and could attempt this myself if given proper direction.

Thanks in advance!

AUDIO PROBLEMS/NO SOUND

Look first to see if sound when a DVD etc connected to a rear input has sound.

Look to see if in audio menu speakers are switched to ON or OFF.

If you are connected with a box, receiver etc via rear audio/video jacks--unplug those units and the set for a while and plug back to let each try to reboot.

No sound and black screen on my Hitachi 57F500 57 in. Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television. But if you hook up a video game console you hear sound.

Hi
;
Have the unit serviced you have no high voltage going to the picture tubes. The most common failure part to suspect is the Deflection Board.

Hi I have a 51F500 TV as listed above. Yesterday, suddenly the sound stopped working. We have checked all possible reasons mute, speakers, power and DVR. We have nothing else attached. What could this be?...

Let's start here:

0) Unplug your tv and let is sit for a few minutes. Does the sound come back after turning back on?

1) Turn the tv volume all the way up - do you hear any sound whatsoever from the speakers?

2) Verify you do not have sound on any of the inputs on the back of the tv. Use a DVD, Xbox or other that you know is working properly with audio to verify this.

If the above answer are all "no" then likely the audio amplifier has failed, or a capacitor in the area has failed. It is not hard to fix, but if you don't have proper tools, I would call a repair shop and ask what they would charge to fix an audio failure.

Prices will vary all over the map so best to just call a shop and see what they say.

How do i set up surround sound on a hitachi big screen tv model 51f510

On your jack panel in the rear of the set look for the Audio Output Jacks. They will be Red and White. Just run the cables from there to your Aux Audio Input of your surround sound receiver.

Sound fluxuates, crackling sound samsungTX-R3079WH sound goes up and down automaticly

If the sound FLUCTUATES up & down, try turning off the AutoVolume in the sound menu. You didn't say if it's one or all speakers crackling. Crackling is either a speaker or circuitry issue. Adjust the balance away from the speaker that crackles, if it stops, that speaker is probably "fried". If it still crackles, I'd turn off the speakers and run the sound thru a stereo for the quick, cheap fix. My Samsung (10+ years old to be fair) crackles due to a circuit issue but if I SMACK the left side speaker (behind which is the sound board and side panel connectors) it stops for a while. Maddening. I think I broke it squeezing it into the furniture it's in, pressing on the protruding RCA plugs. Dumb design.

Hitachi 51F500 (Two separate problems?)

My guess is that the sound you heard was that of some High Voltage discharges that could have fed back and damaged some semiconductors including the microprocessor itself. Since it could be a very expensive repair, I would be very tempted to look around for a new HDTV by JVC or Toshiba. Hitachi has slipped a notch or two in recent years according to my experience.
