Sony compact disc player initializing

The Sony unit was unplugged, stored for 4 days in another room, and when returned to original location, the CD player is constantly initializing. Radio and tape player seem to function, but CD player only initializes for hours.

Have you tried pressing hte RESET switch?? It's behind the removeable front of the stereo, use a biro or something and hold it in for a bit.

Failing that, check that there isn't a CD already in it, could be a dodgy CD?

if your cd is an original and its in good working condition.
try a cleaning kit the laser might be dirty.
after that you might need to replace the unit. I have had a few of the single disc players go bad and I found a replacement at the wrecking yard

Hi i have the samsung ht q20 dvd cinema system, i recently put a code in the dvd to make it multi region however now it does not play any original or copy dvds at all... i read in a forum you can revert...

While "NO DISC" message appears on the display of main unit, hold the main unit's STOP button for longer than 5 seconds. "INITIALIZE" appears on the display and all settings will return to the default values.
Using the RESET function will erase all stored settings.

Player was moved discs fell forward. Now when the player comes on it makes a horrible sound. Can't get door to open

you're going to have to open the player by removing the top cover and returning the discs to their correct places on the carousel. If you've coded the discs' locations and disc names it will be a pain to have to re-code them, I don't know if the memory will clear if you take the discs out and power the unit up and it finds they're not there.
I believe the discs being out of place are what is preventing the door from opening. It's operated by a motor located under the right front of the carousel, and the only way to get it it is to remove the carousel.... which isn't hugely easy but it can be done, you'll have to take the top stuff off inside, unplug at least several of the cables etc so you can move the top board out of the way. Make sure that all the discs are back in their places on the carousel, OR removed, before you turn the unit back on.

Blu-ray discs all of the sudden incompatible and won't play

Look for a firmware upgrade for your player. They exist for sole purpose of increasing compatibility with newer blu ray releases. If that does not do the trick it appears that your player's laser assembly is losing its ability to focus on the disk(s). Repair is not cost effective and you will have to go shopping.

TEAC-P1260 - Initially Cd would play then eject randomly. Next would play only a few seconds then eject. Now has eaten a disc and will not eject. Any suggestions?

First you do is to unplug the cord of your CD unit for 5 hours in order to drain the stored current, the purpose is to reset the unit. After the 5 hours plug the CD see to it if it open If not, just try to press down on the stop button and pressing eject button at same time and it will unlock the tray .Then the other option is to open the cover of the CD unit and unplug the unit again to avoid electricalshock . When open already look for the disc platter moved it outward while driving the gear or simply push out. The drawer or door of the CD player and you will see a small circular disc which is often called turntable or disc platter. When the disc platter is out push it back and push it out you do this three times so the slider mechanism align it properly. If you do already what i said then plug it again and if works already closed the cover. The slider mechanism, depending on the age of the unit and the manufacturer, consists of the small chrome rail, a drive motor, a small gear assembly, and (in some units) a small belt that drives the slider unit via the motor. This small belt causes all sorts of problems. If the belt is broken or slipping, it can cause skipping, dropouts, or simply no start up at all. Also, if the belt breaks in the middle of the disc, the drive mechanism gets hair or dirt wrapped up into the gears, or the pick-up assembly doesn?t return to the start position (called home), the unit will (99% of the time) refuse to release the disc, causing it to become stuck inside the unit. There?s a little micro or leaf type switch located at home position that sometimes gets dirty or breaks and, causing this problem also. Hope it may help you; Regards; VOTIT

Player shows '' No Disc'' even when inserted with a disk

When player says no disk, even if the disk inside, and you hear a whirring and clicking noise when you insert a disk, that means that the CD lens is dirty or defective, and the CD drive cannot read the initial CD track, and returns no disk.

Try first using a CD cleaner disk, if that does not work, then you will need to take the apart the unit to clean lens with isopropyil alcohol and cotton sticks.
