You didn't mention which windows you are using, I have XP Sp2 and have had the same problem this week in fact except I have a dlink router. So assuming you have XP Sp2 then try this patch it should solve your problem.

Just switch off your router and power on again.

My presario x1000 is having connection issues

Go to device manager and go to network connections. uninstall the wireless device, keep the drivers and then reboot. When the computer reboots it will detect the hardware which is your wireless adapter and install it along with the appropriate driver. If it asks to search windows update, allow it. reboot and see if you can get on the internet. If you can't send me a message through this site and we will try something else.

Network Connections missing icon. Plus others problems.

XP tags "Local Area Connection #" with your Network Adapter. If you have a built-in LAN, it will take Local Area Conn 1" and when you disabled it and plugged in a new network adapter, it will be named Local Area Conn 2 and so on in that pattern. Your Local Area Connection will only be back when you plug the original Network adapter that XP tagged as Local Area Connection. It is not "variable" where you can choose how to name it.

Hawking wireless router (HWRN1A300N) will not connect ot internet

First of all - your ISP has nothing to to with DHCP. DHCP is handled internally by your router (or DHCP server).
If you did not configure your router otherwise, it should hand out an IP address automatically.
If you ipconfig shows that you have an IP address, then I assume that this address is manually configured.
You should set everything to automatic until you know it works.
So...
Go to your start menu -> Control panel -> Network connections.
Right-click on "Network Connections" and choose "open".
Look for your "Local Area Connection", if you are wired into the router, or something like "Wireless Network Connection" if you're using wireless.
Right-click "Local Area Connection" and choose "Properties".
Double-click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and see that both "Obtain an IP address automatically" AND "Obtain DNS server address automatically" are selected.
Click "OK" twice and make sure that all property windows are closed.
Go to the command prompt and re-do "ipconfig /all" (No quotation marks of course).
Check the line that says DHCP server, it should be the same IP as your Default Gateway (your router).

If this does not work for you, copy the result form that command here and I have another look.

If it works, please come back and leave a comment. This might help others with the same problem.

Create a local area network

you can get a HP x175 printserver. (not expensive.) and connected it between the printer and the router. that way you don't have to have the desktop on all the time.

Netgear wg111v2 wireless usb adapter wont acquire ip address

Not sure if this is where you are looking, but it probably is. click START then CONNECT TO then SHOW ALL CONNECTIONS then right click LOCAL AREA CONNECTION click STATUS then SUPPORT,,,
or CONTROL PANEL then NETWORK CONNECTIONS then right click LOCAL AREA CONNECTIONS then click STATUS then SUPPORT tab
See what you have there for an IP address
Is it the computer you don't have an IP for or the router? In my case my computer IP the 8th or last digit is the next number after what it is for the router. The other numbers are the same
