Why when taking a picture is the background of the picture flashing

If the image you see in the camera display flashes then it's an over/under exposure warning feature that's turned on in your camera. It's there to tell you when an area of your picture is either too dark or too bright. You can usually find a setting in the camera's menu that allows you to turn it off. Look for "Exposure Warning" in your menus or something similar.

In my w180 image is clear and bright in the LCD screen but when i downloaded the images to my PC it shows poor lighting and dark images pls help me

The lcd screen on your camera is back-lit and shows a brighter picture than the one you actually take. If you can turn down the screen brightness that may help. You could also raise the "exposure compensation" setting and experiment until you find a setting you like.

LCD Display Blank

I have a sony cybershot DSC-S650, the LCD was very dark and could not see anything except if I pointed it at a bright object, everything else worked ok. I could take pictures but could barely see them in playback as well.

I took it to Sony authorised repair outlet and was told the CCD was damaged, they charged me USD $55 to repair it (in Quito, Ecuador)

Indoor photos are too dark and skin tones orange-ish

I have the same problem at my church with the indoor lighting on my camera. I'm able to get it work by putting the whole thing on manual and adjusting the lighting settings that way.

LCD screen flashes

There is nothing wrong with your camera - It is doing what it is meant to do!

The purpose of the flashing areas is to drawn your attention to parts of the image that are over-exposed. In an ideal world nothing would ever be overexposed, but if the image has both very dark and very bright areas, the camera cannot capture both - something has to give! The flashing areas are just to let you know.

It's covered on page 52 of the manual.

CANON Rebel RTI Outdoor pictures are dark

learning to use light metering correctly can have its challenge.
the manual will guide you on how to set up to read light from the subject. spot metering a dark area will cause general overexposure, or a washed out look. spot metering a bright area will cause a dark image. if you are on spot meter and shoot two people standing together against a bright lit background, your meter will see between them if they are centered, and read all that bright background, setting the camera to a less sensitive combination of aperture / shutter speed, resulting in a dark image. use field averaging meter setting and be sure you are metering the subject and not the background. try shooting a wall that is fairly clear of other colors and uniform it light hitting it, you should have a correctly exposed image. since it works in other modes (at least 1, anyway) then it is unlikely you have an exposure compensation issue. that is the only other non defect issue that would cause your problem.
once you confirm that you have these settings correct and still get a dark image, its time to have it serviced.
good luck

LCD Screen Blackout

This is normal. Look at page 53 of your user's manual. There, it shows in the illustration, the figure of a woman with a highlight on her forehead (#2). These flashing patches will occur anytime there are highlights in the image area. These indicate an over-saturation of light on the CCD. Usually, when you view the image on your computer, the image will look normal. You may have to manipulate the image with Photoshop when you make a print. Hope this helps.

The LCD screen is hard to see. What should I do?

If the LCD screen is too bright or too dark, adjust the LCD Brightness setting in the Setup Menu. If you are shooting photos outdoors in bright light, move the joystick to the icon showing the sun over shaowed area to turn on Outdoor mode and make the LCD screen easier to see in bright light.
