Ntldr is compressed

An NTLDR is compressed error is pretty easy to fix(much better then NTLDR is missing errors!).

First you need to boot to the recovery console.

To boot to the recovery console follow these steps:
1. Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer. Click(or press any key) to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD-ROM drive if you are prompted.
2. When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
3. When prompted type "1" or if you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you must access from the Recovery Console.
4. When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.
5. Now you should be at the comman prompt and ready to repair the ntldr file!

Now all you need to do is enter the following commands(in order) and each command on a new line just like you see them here:

cd \
attrib -c ntldr
exit

Your computer should now reboot, and everything "should" work!

My ntldr is compress how do i fix it

Hi,
Do not worry, you can do it easily.....

All you have to do is, just right click on the "ntldr" file, click "properties",
Click "Advanced", &
Uncheck the option which says "Compress contents to save disk space".

(If it is a Desktop)
If you are not able to boot your system, you have to remove the hard disk, and connect it to another system, and boot from that computer, and you will be able to browse this hard disk which you connected now.... and then try to Uncompress the ntldr file, as mentioned above....,

Might seem like a tedious job, but it works....

Cheers

If you have compressed the hard disk drive using the Compress drive to save disk space option under the Properties menu for your hard disk drive and have performed a non-destructive recovery or a system recovery, the following error message may appear: NTLDR is compressed. Press CRTL-ALT-DEL to restart. This error message is resolved by following these steps:
  1. Insert the HP Recovery Tools CD or Compaq Recovery Tools CD into the CD drive on the computer and restart the computer.Wait for the HP Recovery Tools CD or Compaq Recovery Tools CD window to open.
  2. Select Run Microsoft Recovery Console , click Next , and then follow the onscreen instructions. NOTE: If you are unable to open a recovery console, follow the Alternate steps .
  3. Press R to repair the Windows XP installation using Recovery Console.
  4. Enter the appropriate number for the WINDOWS installation, for example, the WINDOWS installation could be listed as 3: C:\WINDOWS or 3: D:\WINDOWS .
  5. If prompted, enter your Administrator password and press Enter . If there is no password, just press Enter .
  6. At the prompt, if the WINDOWS installation you selected in Step 4 was C:\WINDOWS, type: cd c:\Or, if the WINDOWS installation you selected in Step 4 was D:\WINDOWS, type: cd d:\

  8. At the prompt, type: exit
  9. Press the Enter key and immediately remove all discs or diskettes from the computer to allow the computer to restart. The error message should be resolved.
Alternate steps NOTE: These alternate steps work for HP and Compaq desktop PCs with Windows XP and a recovery partition. These steps do not work if you have replaced the hard disk drive, replaced Windows with another operating system, or repartitioned the recovery partition. You can use the following steps if you are unable to open a recovery console:
  1. Turn on the computer. When the initial logo screen appears, press the F10 key repeatedly until a message about starting recovery appears.
