have the pcg-k35 and only works when power supply is connected..and not only that but the power cord has to be held in place just to keep it on. any slight movement and power is lost. any ideas?
Check your mains adapter plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. I suggest you get a quote first.
First, your battery is discharged and most likely bad. The problem with the power cord and adapter could be a loose power connector on the computer or short in the wire itself. If you have access to another adapter try the other adapter with the battery removed and see if you have that same problem. If you do then you know the problem is on the motherboard connector. If not you know it is the Power adapter.

I tried to download Avnex Virtual Audio Device but a windows error occured and said that it hasn't been tested by Microsoft for compatability with Windows XP, it gave me two options, to either continue anyway, or to stop. If I continued, it could ruin my system immediately or in the future. At least that's what it said. I really need this download to get my AV Voice Changer to work.

ok basically i got this laptop for free off a friend who said if i can fix it i can keep it. I know nothing about this laptops history, however i noticed the power connector was broken, so this has been replaced. Now it has power it will turn on but when i try to go into the bios it turns off. I removed the fan and heat sink when i changed the connector but i'm pretty sure i fitted it correctly and cleaned it and used thermal compound so i dont think its getting too hot. Still doing more testing but stuck right now.... Any thoughts :)

Batt PCGA-BP2EA any aftermarket batt did not work because
the chip set in the original battery handshakes with the pc. Only
solution was to separate the original battery pack with a screwdriver remove
the two tiny screws under the small rubber rivets and do your best to pry the
battery apart without damaging the chips and the board that runs along the
length of the battery near the connector side. Then rip apart an
aftermarket battery and unsolder the four terminals that connect to a similar
board as in the oem and solder them to the old battery board. This now
works without having to change anything on msconfig.exe since this didn't work
for me. Caution when prying the original battery apart the cells have
some rubberized glue that may take some hard prying to get it open. Just don?t
damage the board and it should work even if you have to electrical tape the
case together. Hope this helps.
