440s will turn on but the screen is too dark to see

This is happening to mine also, but Garmin is saying they no longer service the item. ANY HELP out there?? You CAN see that the unit is functioning but the light level is so low you need to shade the screen to be able to tell what is happening. The slider for brightness is all the way to the right and it is not set to NIGHT view. jogging the power button does not help.

I don't seem to have an option to change the colour on screen for my pro nav 300. It's sometimes hard to see in bright sunshine. Can you help please.

Lets see if we can help you. Lets take the bright sunshine issue first. You can adjust the backlighting on the device which may help that situation. To do this:
1) Click on the system icon. Then select the BACKLIGHT button. Now with the backlight menu up, tap the right side of the brightness bar (the top one) until the indicator is all the way to the right (bright sun). That should help some.
For the changing the colour issue, not sure if you mean night color options or color options themselves. For night color options, tap anywhere in the top 1/3 of the screen to bring up an options menu. Then select NIGHT COLOURS to change to softer night colours when driving at night.
To change the colour scheme during the day, according to the manual, when you turn the device on, it shows the setup screen. From within the 'Full Navigator' menu, select SETUP. From within this menu, should find an option for Colour schemes. Select this to choose the colour scheme that you'd like.
These devices always have many menus and aren't too easy to navigate. Hopefully these instructions will help you find what you're looking for. The entire manual for the device can also be found at:
Hope this helps!

The green power light is on but nothing is coming up on the screen. Can you help please?

make sure it is not in night time mode with the brightness set low on a dark map. you will need to get into preferences and change to daylight mode or increase the brightness. It may have to be done in a dark surrounding

Nuvi 205w screen won't light- any ideas? it's brand new and fully charged. I can tell it's on, because it generates sounds when I touch the screen.

If you can't see anything then it is a hardware issue. Return for replacement as soon as possible.

If you can see faint images in the background then your screen is just too dim. You will have to try to navigate the dim screen to the settings menu. Click on the Tools icon, bottom right of main screen. Click on "settings" then "display". Select brightness and adjust.

One other suggestion is try an update. Plug the unit into your PC and run garmin webupdater. Once done the screen may light up but its a long shot. Here is the webupdater link.

I would send it off the raymarine for repair. It could be something in the voltage regulator or the cfls.

Blank screen

First thing is do you get the start-up screen when you turn it on?
If that appears tro be OK you may have inadvertantly changed the screen brightness.
Remove from the mount and rotate the unit in your hand to the light. Tap once on the screen and then tap where the light bulb icon is. Drag the brightness up to full scale. Also make sure it is not in night-time mode with its brightness turned way down. Not that you would probably suffer the same problem that I had but the screen will go blank and actually give you a thermometer reading if the unit overheats from being exposed to a locked car in full sun, Mine reported 52 degrees Celsius and failed to work until I cooled it down in front of the air-conditioner vents. Of course it was summer and I live in North Queensland Australia! Hope it comes good for you.
