Blue LCD Screen when I try to play a movie in VCR Mode

I am having the following problem.
When I try to watch the movies that I previously recorded I am getting a blue screen and the counters are like --:--:-- when I press the play button in VCR Mode.
Do you know what is the cause and the solution to this problem.
The camcoder doesn't show any error message, just is displaying a blue screen.
No one of the counters are working.

Re: Blue LCD Screen when I try to play a movie in VCR...

The tape path need to be cleaned, the heads are clogged. Also what can happen with sonys in low take-up torque. the take up reel can be retensioned, but it's a little tricky. you can send it me me if you like, A job like that might run about $100, thats if the heads are still good. Include a check for $40 to cover diagnostic, cleaning chemicals and bench time. If it just needs cleaning thats all you pay. This fee will apply to the repair if you approve the estimate. Send to Neighborhood camcorder Service. 8917 Woodman way , Sacramento ca. 95826, phone # is 916-362-8708. Larry

The LCD is blue and won't play back . We have cleaned it. Camera mode works when recording. Just no playback picture in VCR mode. ...

you most likely has a bad screen, if you can, play back your video into a VCR, dvd burner or televisino with rca type inputs, this will at least let you save your movies.

When i chage the option of oFF to CAMERA nothing turns on and when I change the option OFF to VCR the screen just show strange symbol and SP and it does not work

just so you know, your camera model was included in the list for what we call the "ccd program". this program has ran for 5 years and unfortunately ended march this year. sony gave free repairs for cameras and camcorders affected by the defective ccd imaging sensor before the said date. issue with the camera shows a black or distorted screen in camera mode. but the you should still be able to see the indicators on the screen. when switch to vcr you should be able to play back previous recordings that you made. better to really make sure its a ccd issue, play a tape that you're sure contains a movie recording and play it, then set it to camera mode and see if you get just a black screen. if you try recording using a tape, you may see nothing but should hear the audio part. if this is what's happening we can be sure it's a ccd issue. if your camcorder just won't turn on in camera mode, maybe the power switch turned defective or it can be other parts of the unit that stopped working.if this is the case, then of course, your unit may require service to address the problem.hope this info helps.thanks:)

Vcr turns on and plays but the picture lines on screen

The camcorder has a problem in that the heads are probably not locked in frequency. This is not an uncommon problem with older units. There are some capacitors in the circuit that controls the head speed that are defective. This allows drift in the speed of turning which will result in an uneven signal. This is not a trivial repair but the parts cost is minimal (less than $10). Look for a repair shop that works on camcorders and get an estimate. When I get these units the total cost usually runs around $150 for parts and labor. Realize that even with experience, this is a 3-4 hour job.

Dark screen on my video-camera Canon MV700i

I have the same problem, it appears that this camera is one of many cameras that have problems with the CCD (image sensor) have a look at this site for more info

I hadn't used mine for about 9 months, when I went to use it the screen was black with a bit of flicker. Canon are still fixing them if you're from the UK have a peep here -

Hope that helps

How to record from a VCR onto a canon mv530i

OK get a set of cord that can be used, on the back of most VCR's there is RCA Sockets for Video & Audio out... generally Red & White & Yellow these go to the corresponding inputs on the camera's Video & Audio inputs, OR Correct adapter. The camera must have the correct A/V INPUT selected. Then start the VCR to "Play" the tape, and set the Camera to "Record" this will/should then record the output from the VCR to the memory in the Camera.

Can my camcorder work with imovie and if so how do i get my computer to get download my video?

Open iMovie and set it to capture DV. (Click the camera shaped icon opposed to the siscor scissor shape) When you see a blue screen that says (camera connected) and the image pops on screen of image from tape on camcorder set in play mode, you hit the import button and it begins to capture digital movie using DV compression of whatever you have on tape. You should be able to control your camcorder with the video controllers underneath the project window to make selections for the in and outpunts on the tape you wish to capture. Then switch to edit mode by clicking on the scissor button and import the movies you just captured or use them from the clips menu, etc. renedr movie back to tape, if you wish by clicking back and forth from edit mode (scissors) and capture mode (camera silo) and render to and from tape.
