Same model. Here is my setup:

    42" + Comcast HD box + PS3 + Compaq PC
The PS3 and Cable Box use HDMI cables
The PC uses an RGB cable
I have RCA's running to my amplifier/ surround unit.

    Here is my case.

I was watching the set yesterday and turned it off to leave for the evening. Upon my return I attempted to power on the set (remote) and it responded,(set went from standby (RED) to on (GREEN) but no picture. I have sound, but the screen is BLACK.

I have the same problem as the others in this post, a picture in post http://www.fixya.com/support/t269696-p42... shows what my set looks like also.

It just started today when i turned the set on, I didn't notice any "pop" from the set, but it could have. It's a four year old set.

I pulled the back panels off and noticed a diode "LD500 on board 3141VMF721A blinking red"!!

It might be one of the power supplies. There are three in this model. One for the sound, one for the video, and one for the computer components. The video power supply is probably shot. They cost about $200 a peice from LG. If there was a "pop" sound when the video stoped, then it might be one of the circuit boards in the back. Yet again, they are three, each costing around $200 from LG.

If the Vs and Va voltages to plasma panel is abnormal, this could happen. Check these voltages. Both these voltages are critical, and should match exactly the same as marked on silk screen at the back of the display panel. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Z-sus boards are the weakpoint on those models of Plasmas. But If you eventually loose your picture entirely, but retain sound it is even more likely your culprit.

My Zenith P42W46X 42 inch tv got two black lines vertical lines on the screen the were coming and going away before but they are more stable now.i opened it up and wiggled all the connections arround the...

There are 4 or 5 ribbon cables on the bottom or on one side, they control part of the plasma screen. Check the ribbon cable near the black lines. Unplug the ribbon cable and look for black chips on the underside of it, I think they say 100 on them, you need to resolder both ends on each chip. Should fix the black line issue.

common problems with these, usually customers here a loud pop. then the screen goes blank. I would try...
Some of these have a 4 pin test on the control board that you can jump with solder to get test pattern. If you get it to do that then these boards maybe good and would replace the control board. if nothing happens, then
the upper & lower drive also the Ysus and Zsus boards all at the same time.
last could be a defective panel.
hope this helps. p/n are on all the boards.

P42W46X Zenith Plasma - No Picture - Mostly Yellow on screen

Mine looks like too, but the line running across isn't on my set, picture looks like this, and the sound works fine. I took the tuner board all the way out and turned the set on and it did the same thing, then I unplugged the top wire on the board next to the tuner board and the screen went black. plugged it back in and the screen came back with the scrambled picture. Anyone know why? Bad mainboard maybe? the left of the tuner board?
