Question about Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Windows me Hi, I just got an SD1000 for Christmas, and don't know the first thing about digital cameras....but I'll learn! My computer has Windows ME, though. Will this be a problem for me? Will I be able to run the software?

Re: windows me

Windows ME is supported according to the Canon USA site. Windows Me is much like Windows 98 so you will want to

1. Install the software first
2. Reboot the machine
3. Plug in the camera to your USB port.

This will be the optimal way to intall and get things working troublefree.

Zoom Browser EX software always fails to install on my Sony Vaio laptop

Reading wht you are saying I agree that the problem is not the camera, cable, CD, etc... but your PC.
I assume you wife's computer is also running on Windows XP.
Can you verify that you have the administrator rights on your computer? Go under Start, Settings, Control Panel, User Accounts and be sure that close to your name is saying Administrator like in this example 1ebbf22.gif Another things to verify is that you don't have The Windows firewall blocking your application, again go under Control Panel and temporary disable it.
Last but not least use the ZoomBrowser 5.8 or higher.
Let me know the result.

I have windows 7, how do i take pictures off my canon camera

By connecting your device to your system (Computer) through USB Cable (Data Cable) you can transfer your images, For Window 7 you don't need to load driver explicitly, It is inbuilt in it, you just need to connect your device and need to follow the instruction.

Have a nice day
Rating the solution is highly appreciated.

Want to download the device for windows 2000

You don't need any special software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program.

CANON SD1000 can't TURN vertical downloaded video into horizontal

If you have windows movie maker (its part of the default installation of windows XP) you can use the rotate filter in the video effects tools.
Import your video into movie maker and select "Video Effects" under tools.  Scroll through the various effects until you find the "rotate 90".  Apply the effect and save the video.
I hope this helps!

Won't turn on.

Did the camera sustain any damage (dropped, water damage etc)? If not I would check with Canon or the reseller to see if you can return the camera.

As a last resort you could sell the broken camera on Ebay. I know you would get around 80-90 for it. The SD1000s price is dropping now so you could turn around and buy one for around $160.
