Samsung Microwave problems

Hey, are Samsung Microwave works fine, but the light underneath is not working, we changed the bulbs, but still nothing is working. We think it might be a fuse, but if it was a fuse wouldnt nothing be working? Where is the fuse on the Microwave? I look underneth the Microwave and found the Light Replacement # DE 6840734B if that helps any, I cant find the model number. Should we replace the bulb? What should we do?

Re: Samsung Microwave problems

We see this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

Details of our service and critical safety information and disassembly information is at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:

I have a mh1150xm microwave and changed the cooktop lightbulb. Still no light. A tech came and said that need to change whole control board. Is this true. Everything is working fine exept the light

I take it you did replace with a bulb designed to withstand heat.check the filament of bulb first these sometimes get damaged in transit.if the microwave is coming on then it won't be the fuse.if the bulb looks okay(you can check using another) finally inspect the door latch and the bulb housing and wiring to it.Sometimes door latch hole can get debris into the mechanism.cost of panel via engineer can cost quite it still in warranty? Price compare the estimation against buying new replacement.

My MH713OXE light underneath quit working

Check for 110Vac at the center pin of the light socket. If there could be the pin needs to be pulled up a bit so it makes contact with the bulb. If no voltage, most likely relay on board is bad. Be careful around these units they are very dangerous since they have 4000+ volts insde that can easily kill you!

I went to change a light bulb, light bulb pulled out of threads. Tried to remove threads and without turning power off and shorted something out. Underneath lights and fan will not work. The microwave...

I would say you have blown a fuse on the unit. As you now have found out, that's one of the reasons why you unplug any electrical equipment before working on them. You will have to take the outer cover off the microwave and locate where the fuse is. It is most likely on the back of the main PCB or possibly inside a plastic sleeve or mounting near where the cord enters the unit.

Magic Chef mco153ubf

I had the same problem. My Magic Chef, MCO153UBF Microwave had similar problems. The Magnatron, Cooling fan, Turn table and under hood lights were not working at all after hearing a pop sound under the control panel. Thought it was the fuse but the fuse was fine after testing and replacing. I checked the circuit breaker wired to my house and saw it had a break to my kitchen outlets so i flipped the switch to get back the kitchen outlets. Then I checked the microwaves Control Panel ( Printed Circuit Board) underneath and saw to traces were burnt. I soldered the two trace lines and the fixed the problem.

The problem is damage to the control circuit board. This damage is usually caused by removing or installing light bulbs without disconnecting the oven from the power line first. We regularly repair these GE / Samsung smart boards for this problem for customers from across the country for $32.50. We have an important file called "safety.txt" which you can find by doing a search for "microwave safety.txt" on It's important information to consider before proceeding. When the varistor fails, it will be shorted. That will cause the whole oven to be "dead". It's almost certainly fine.
