I have recently developed a problem with my vr320.When I insert a new disc or a downloaded DVD it takes ages to load and then displays "The disc can neither be played or recorded Please check disc" Yet it plays a commercially produced DVD. This problem was not evident until recently. Any advise would be appreciated.
First clean the laser head with a Qtip and alcohol. It gotta be
perfectly clean, so wipe with fresh brand name qtip and make sure there
is not a single dust particle on it. You gotta remove the cabinet with
star screwdriver. Your beam might be tired. First try with the clean up! Unplugg before opening!

I've tried 2 makes of DVD-R discs, Maxell and TDK and get an error code ( 207 I think) saying the disc can neither be played or recorded to. I'm archiving stuff from my Sky+ box and don't want to keep using the more expensive printable front DVD-RW disks that I have. As the recoder is a bit old now, is it because they are both x16 discs? If so, how can I resolve it!?

Although I got over a year's worth of use from this, now my Samsung won't play or record dvd's. Videos record ok, and cd's play ok. Mostly dvd's say 'cannot read disc', and blank discs get spat out with a message 'cannot initialise disc'.
