I have the same problem. I cannot take a picture until I turn off the flash. Is a this bulb problem. Is it fixable?

The model must be a real *** because we have the same problem with our's and it's only two or three years old. We have taken it to a digital camera store and they say it can't be fixed but I am still not convinced.

Same problem with the red flash icon. I can take a picture if I turn off the flash as well, but have to turn off the flash every time I open the lens. Have had the camera for 5 years and haven't had a problem. We needed to replace the lens cover recently and after we replaced the cover we started having this flash problem. It was working fine before the cover came off which leads me to believe we've changed our settings somehow....please help

usual suspects for a dead flash are burnt capacitor, or burnt bulb. Any dark spots or burnt hair-ish smell on the flash? Unfortunately most things are made to be replaceable not fixable. Might try a local camera store...

Could be a broken wire at the socket. Sounds like a burnt bulb also. Sometimes a burnt bulb will do the same thing as you are describing. Once you get this fixed, all should work. If flashing to quickly, replace the flasher stat unit!

If your flash bulb is burnt out, so replace it by a new. also replace the four flexible connecting wires. But be very careful of high voltage may damage the whole camera.

The Flash filament inside is probably burnt out and needs to be replaced.

SB 600 has stopped firing batteries are good

flash bulb could be burnt out...if it doesn't fire when when you push test, that's my guess as to the problem. Another possibility (although unlikely) is a loose connection in the flash.

Mavica FD95 Flash Quit Working???

My flash went out twice on my FD-95. The first time it was fixed under warranty and it was the bulb. This time I haven't fixed since I have my 707 now. It still works with the external flash like yours did before you dropped it. If possible I would try and buy another external flash since your time is short. When I had my camera fixed under warranty it was just about to run out and they, the camera shop, told me I should get it fixed now instead of out of warranty because the cost could be hundreds just in labor alone. Good luck.
