Question about Toshiba 20DL74 20 in. EDTV-Ready LCD Television

1 Answer

Toshiba 20DL74...on/off I bought the unit on Dec 13/04 and it has performed well enough since then. Recently, however, it stops and turns off suddenly and won't turn back on. I have tried different electrical outlets but no luck. Eventually, I disconnect everything (cable, power adapter) and then try it elsewhere and it works again. This has happened about five times now over the past month.

TV runs for approximately one hour, turns off, I unplug it for about 3 to 5 minutes. Plug it back in and it works fine. Does this on a daily basis.

My Toshiba LCD 20DL74 TV will work fine for a while, then it shuts off and won't come back on. I disconnect it and reconnect and plug it in another outlet, then it comes back on. This is a chronic problem and it happens a lot. Any idea what to do here? Thanks

I had the same issue with my Toshiba LCD 20DL74 TV. It had worked fine since 2004 until I started to have the same problems lately. Now it's gone, it shut off. Any idea how to fix it or where to go? Thanks

I had the same problem with mine and I finally figured out it was the power supply. I ordered a new generic replacement and I have'nt had a problem since other than a few noise lines in the lower channels and that might be because I didn't buy a Toshiba replacement which may have a filter in it. It has not shut off now for over a year.

I have lost access to all the USB ports on my Toshiba Satellite P105-S6024. Most recently - 12/26/09 - I was able to use all ports, althought my 16BB Flash Drive - Staples Relay Model also suddenly stopped...

There are a few toys and devices made in China that deadshort the USB terminals. I hope you have not bought and installed one of these. I had 2 in the shop a year ago with some Dora Explorer usb toy that toasted the usb once installed. If you have bought and installed something about the same time as the usb stopped working you will need to call the company that made the device and demand they replace your motherboard.

CAN NOT GET CABLE CHANNELS , WITH DIRECT CABLE WITH USING THE CABLKE BOX MODEL 20DL74

Yep! I agree - your tuner on the TV is not made for Digital reception.
You will still need to use the Verison Cable box to view any channels.

The newer TV's have the digital Tuners built in. Note: Plasma's are faster locking on to channels than LCD's.

How to tune the Toshiba LCD Flat Screen TV Model N0.15VL63B as I have problem in tuning it on .

http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/052/05242HL196.PDF

Above is the link to your owner's manual for Toshiba 20DL74 in PDF format (wait for it to load, takes some time).

Go through the pages to see how to tune it on, but if you there the method and it has not solved the problem yet, then you need to take it to Toshiba servicing center for service.

Hope this helps!

Toshiba TV will not turn on ....

First off! Is it still under warranty?
If not my thoughts is either one of two things,
1) a bad or problematic power supply
2) the lamp ballest 'florecent tubes' for back lighting is going bad or bad.

20DL74 toshiba- Power cord was missing

Hi redneb711,
I am happy to help.
The cover on the back of the tv has to be removed. Facing the back of the tv at the bottom of the cover on the sides are Arrows, press in on these arrows and pull towards you.
The cover should hinge from the top and come off.
The power adaptor plugs into the bottom hole below the inputs.
I have provided a link to the manual. http://www.toshiba.ca/web/pdf/14,20DL74.pdf

TV WONT TURN ON

If it's less than a month old, you shouldn't have taken off the back. I subjest taking it back to where you bought it from and get it exchanged or get a refund.
