Question about Dell E176FP 17" LCD Monitor

Screen color is purple

Where I work we have a monitor that the screen color is purple. Of course this is very hard to look at and the co-worker is having a hard time. She and I both have unplugged the monitor, tried the factory settings and display settings and nothing is working. This only started a week ago and the first time I was able to get the screen back to normal but nothing is working now and of course I'm not sure what I did then to fix it. I'm beginning to think that the monitor is going bad but just not sure. These monitors are only a little over a year old. Does anyone have any suggestions. We've also tried to call Dell but don't have all the info they want in order to help us.

The input cable is probably bad. Check the menus if the color is right on them but the picture is bad the the cable is definently bad.

Could be the logic board but I would try a diffrent cable first. If that does not work you can get the logic board here. www.lcdrepair.us

If you have access to another monitor use if to verify the monitor is the problem and not the video card of the computer.
does the monitor allow you to adjust color and tint(hue) because the tint or hue control changes the overall color from green to purple. or the color control circuit has failed leaving you stuc with a purple screen.

If a laptop screen is changing colour to pink, what is the solution?

More than likely you will need a new screen. It could be the screen or it could be the video card inside the computer. Try connecting another screen to the laptop to isolate the problem. Borrow a screen from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the laptop. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok without the changing color to pink then your video card is ok and the problem is your original screen needs to be replaced. If the Borrowed monitor displays the same pink colors then your video card inside the computer is bad.

The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

Screen colour distorted

Your monitor needs to be replaced more than likely.

Try using another monitor to isolate the problem. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok, then your original monitor is bad. If the Borrowed monitor shows the distorted colors, then your video card inside the computer is bad.

Either your monitor or video card is bad. Try connecting another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays and works, then your original monitor is bad. If the Borrowed monitor does the same as your original monitor and does not work, then the Video Card inside the computer is bad.

Try setting your resolution back to the way it was and see what happens.

Maybe your monitor or video card is bad.

My sony vaio d screen sometimes go black

Sounds like the Monitor or Video Card might be going bad. Try plugging another monitor on the computer to isolate the problem. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and plug it into the computer. If the Borrowed monitor works without going black, then your original monitor is bad. If the Borrowed monitor goes black like your original monitor, then your video card is going bad.

Getting scratches on screen

Sound like your monitor is about to go out. Try a different monitor to make sure. Borrow one from a relative, friend, neighbor or co-worker. If the borrowed monitor does ok without the scratches and lines, then your original monitor is going bad. If the borrowed monitor does the same thing, then your video card inside the computer is going bad.

No data in panel

Either your monitor is bad or the video card in the computer is bad. To isolate the problem try another monitor on the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and plug it in the computer. If the monitor works and shows the display then your original monitor is bad and needs to be replaced. If the borrowed monitor does the same thing and does not show anything but a blank screen then the video card inside the computer is bad.

Monitor color is purple?

Most likely, the plug. The pins are known to have a tendency towards falling off, therefore some of the colors are not viewable any more. As a final answer, yes, you should change the cable.

My mointor turned purple

Now this may or may not work for you.

I think I had the same problem today, I just turned on my PC and the letters and startup screens were purple all of the sudden when the day before they were just fine. Well this is what I did to fix it.

Your Monitor should have some buttons below the screen. You want to press the button that says
"Menu". Once on the Menu screen use the up & down buttons on the monitor to scroll through the menus. What you are looking for is a "Reset" option once you find that choose to reset the Monitor and all the colors should go back to normal.

I am sorry if it is hard to understand, I did my best to explain it. I just hope this helps

Good Luck
