Dear Tom,
Thanks for writing to us about your VistaQuest digital camera VQ5010. Since you have a Vista operating system, there is no driver/software that you need to install. Your camera is compatible with your computer by simply connecting your USB cable to your computer and then to your camera. Please read the below helpful tips and see if that would help you:
1. Do you plug the USB cable to your PC then to the camera? Cable should be connect to PC before you connect it to your camera.
2. Do you leave the switch on the back of the unit above the LCD to left which is indicated by an arrow sign? it should be on the left when downloading the images and it should be on the right when taking photos.
3. Do you have a USB hub that you connect the USB cable to? you would need to have a direct connection without a hub with your PC and also, if you have USB more than one slot in your PC, please try the other ones as well.
4. Do you have a memory card in the unit and do you have a memory SD card slot in your PC? or do you have an SD memory card reader connected to your computer? if so, one short cut would be to place the SD card inside the PC's SD memory card slot and that is how your PC can also read your images without connecting the camera to the computer at all.
If the above tips don't help, please let us know so we can take the next step to help you further.
Kind Regards,
