Question about Protron PD-DVR100 DVD Recorder

Pressed the progressive scan button during set up.

I now have a black and white screen and can not reset the unit. I have tried pressing and holding the enter button but it does not work. The unit face reads either internal or initial (not sure). I have tried unplugging the unit for a period of time and it still comes back the same. I have no way to open the disc drawer either. Help

Re: pressed the progressive scan button during set up.

Well, I left it unplugged all night. As soon as I got home, I called tech support, thinking I would be on hold for awhile. I plugged it in and turned it on and hadn't even gotten to the TV to turn it on when a guy came on the line.

He told me to press P.Scan on the remote. As soon as everything was turned on, I had the usual Protron screen. I don't know if it was the P.Scan button or the unplugged all night. He thought having it unplugged was the solution.

So I guess I just didn't leave it unplugged long enough when I tried that last night.

Re: pressed the progressive scan button during set up.

I set mine up today and made the same "fatal" mistake. I spoke to "tech support" 3 different times with no luck. After the third call he told me it was "simple fix" but I had to call a "senior tech" on Monday after 1 PM Eastern time. If it was so simple to fix why couldn't he fix it? What a joke! Does anyone out there know how to fix this problem?

Turned progressive scan on, can i turn it off without being able

Try these methods for resetting the scan on your dvd."To reset the VIDEO OUTPUT, turn Off the player, turn back On, open the disc tray and press and hold the Stop button on the player for 10 seconds to reset the scan mode." The Reset procedure doesn't seem to work on all versions but you can sometimes get a usable B&W picture allowing you to get to the menu and change the settings by connecting the composite video input of your display to the Red Pr/Cr or Green Y component output jacks on the rear of the cabinet.
You can also go into the Menu and set it blind with the following key presses on the Remote:
1. With the unit Stopped, press Setup.
2. Press Enter.
3. Press the Down Arrow 3 times.
4. Press the Right Arrow Once.
5. Press Enter. Hope this helps you with your problem

SD-K530SU - Turning Off Progressive Scan Mode

Once the setting for Progressive Scan output is entered,
an image will only be visible on a Progressive Scan compatible
TV or monitor. If you set Progressive Scan to On in
error, you must reset the unit. Pointing the remote at the
player, press the STOP (x) button to stop any disc that is
playing. Next, press the STOP (x) button again and hold it
for five seconds before releasing it. The video output will
be restored to the standard setting, and a picture will once
again be visible on a conventional analog TV or monitor.

How to reset recorder

The solution to hold the pause button for 5 seconds is a winner. Just make sure you press the DVD button first. This doesn't work in VCR mode. This button is on the actual unit, NOT the remote. Thanks for this help.
