Thanks for help but how can i reboot because there is no picture in the screen of my laptop. I think the problem is inside the machine.

-   I can use my mouse and keyboard when I've switched to the laptop, but I am getting no image on the desktop monitor. Have tried re-booting, F5, unplugging the cables, etc. Any advice? Tx r-   rogergp

can you operat an function key,

Function key Fn in your key pad hold and press F5,

it will togell the screen,,,,,

I don't think I have a function key on my desktop HP keyboard. I have one on my laptop and tried that. Also tried all the other ctrl/alt/etc, with the F5 keys to no avail. My best guess is the cable. Do you have any other thoughts? r
