Nyko xbox 360 intercooler

I purchased the Nyko Intercooler for my son's XBOX 360 and the Xbox power adapter plug does not fit the mating plug on the Intercooler.

Yah the fucking thing is a piece of shit and dont fit its like there is a extra piece in the some dumb ass left in there when it was made.

We have the same problem here. There is a small plastic tab in the middle of both the intercooler female port and the male power plug which conflict with each other. One is aligned vertically and the other horizontally. It looks like they could be made to fit together if either of these tabs was removed, but I am unwilling to do so since they may be there for a reason -- they associated power connections on them may be different.

Also, there is lots of evidence that the intercooler is *bad* for the 360. See

Overheating issues

Blow out the Xbox 360 with compressed air, buy external fans, but don't buy the "Nyko intercooler" as they have been rumored to have cause problems to the Xbox 360 and void warranty. Your best bet is to buy a cheap office fan and point it at the Xbox to cheap the air flowing. Also if possible, move the Xbox 360 into a open space where it has at least 5 inches of space behind it, and at least 2 or 3 inches of space on either side to keep a nice airflow. Best of luck!

I bought a NYKO intercooling fan and the plug from the xbox 360 elite will not go into the fan receptacle is there a specific intercooler for the elite?

Microsoft has two different power connections for the Xbox 360. I do not recommend the use of the Intercooler. Believe it or not, it actually prevents air from circulating and increases the temperature of the 360!
For cooling I always recommend the fan modification. I have written a free guide showing you how to do this, no soldering skills required!
Here is the guide.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

Slot will not open

yko has recently released an updated Intercooler that uses its own power source. Nyko claims this problem no longer occurs with new versions of this cooler. However, Microsoft still considers it an unlicensed add-on and will void the warranty of machines showing signs of its use.

Fan problems

it looks like by Fitting this Homebrew Fan and switching the power on that you have potentially shorted the systems Motherboard. this will render it unworkable as is in your case. unfortunately for you now, because you have modified the Xbox 360s hardware, your warranty with microsoft is Voided meaning you will have to purchase a new Xbox.

Instead of resorting to fitting Extra pieces of hardware Yourself,i suggest follow these steps :

1) do not put Xbox 360s in small confined spaces such as TV Cabinets and cupboards, this decreases the Cooling capabilities of the Xbox System Dramatically which will eventually lead to an Over heat and potentially damaged CPU and/or GPU (RRoD). Make sure the Xbox console has a lot of empty space around it, Free from other electrical appliances which will give it the fresh cool air it requires to keep the core temperatures down.

2) buy a very small desk fan and have it blowing a very slight breeze onto the back of the Xbox Console. do not have the fan turned up too high or Pointing Directly into the back of the console, as this can sometimes wear down the Bearings on the fans which will eventually cause them to break.

3) the final solution would be to Look into purchasing a 3rd Party Fan Attachment, these fans don't alter the hardware within the system, meaning they are still within warranty. and generally provide cooler running temperatures for your console. one example of an attachment would be the Nyko Intercooler (google it).

Hopefully this solves your problem. sorry to hear that you may need a new console !

It keeps turning off and on

If you have a nyko intercooler fan on your xbox 360, take it off, this would be causing the problem.
If you dont have one, check your power brick, if it is orange or red when you power the system, then you will need to buy a replacement.
