Shinco 1250 DVD Player

Having problems reading dvd. Intermittent. Will read for a few minutes then die. Once it gets warm it just keeps giving me this sound like a car reving for a Nascar race.

Should I try to repair? Trash it? Any self help ideas?

What would you say if I told you the disc loads after a few hours then dies after a few minutes. Right now it just loads and eventually goes to no disc after about a minute of sounding like a race car under the lid. What problem would that indicate?

Problem affects any disk I try. I'm fairly experienced with general troubleshooting and thats the first and easiest remedy I'd try which is to change the disk.

You can try to repair it. Open the DVD player, after opening seeing the optical lens inside. Gently clean the optical with soft cloth or Cotton slowly rub it. do not add fluid to the cleaning material that will cause to destroy the lens.

if not work then maybe your DVD player is useful for some video cd.

Try use some disc, the current disc maybe has portion of data that cannot be read by the player. thats is why player keep on turning the disc finding a good portion of the disc its to find out the player detect bad on it will prompt NO disc.

Open the player and look inside it
If you don't see any signs of the laser then it's most likely that the lens unit has malfunctioned or simply "died" (but in your case the laser still shows some signs of life since you said it recognized your discs). You need to get that replaced to have your unit up and running again. Sorry...

It could be dust, so try using a lens cleaner (but it's highly unlikely). Try it just to be sure.

no. i think this kind noise cant be due to lens.
this must be due to mis-positioning of the disc inside the player compartment.
when evry if there the disc is not held properly inside the player this kind of noise occurs. once when i was testing my DVD drive by keeping it open i just held the drive loose in my hand. that time it made a heavy noise.
but i soon turned the power off and made the drive tight by its coverings and then started it again. it went on well.
but if this case is not tackled in proper manner it will cause the disk to crack inside the player itself. this may cost you a lot since it has chances for damaging the lens inside it.....

if this is not the problem.. the sure problem is your lens.. its totally DEAD.. so the drive may be trying to read it again and again ( reason for noise) .. since its not able to read it after many tries it just leaves it off..

Tries it with many other DVD discs,If u have the same result the DVD player Laser eye is having problems and it dying, not reading Data's from the DVD disc anymore. If not, that only DVD disc, that have problems, than check DVD disc for smushes, grims and cracks on the DVD disc itself. If it is the DVD player having problems with it Laser eye and it dying. The DVD player is junk not worth repairing. The DVD player sell really cheap these days, like $40 for a brand new one.

Your DVD player is having an issue with the spindle motor (the thing that spins the DVD around). The following solution works for most people, and you should only have to do this once.

  1. Unplug the DVD player.
  2. Take the cover off.
  3. Place a disc on the spindle.
  4. Put a little pressure on the disc (so it doesn't slip) and spin it around a few times.
  5. Remove the disc, reassemble, and plug back in.
  6. Try to play a DVD.
  7. Report back if this solved your problem, or if more troubleshooting is needed.

yes, Lazer wont aline to read, they get progressively worse, sometimes intermittent, if that is the case then you will need a whole new internal cradle. maybe time to get another one. the Yeti

There should be a tiny hole that you can get a paper clip through on your DVD this hole leads to a manual release mechanism that should open the DVD drawer. I hope this helps
