Re: dell 6000 motherboard

Don't understand the question. Please post a little more detail. Does the computer operate at all? Is it an adaptor problem as in no power. Could be a power connector problem? Give more detail.

There is a short circuit on your motherboard. This is why the power adapter switched off (thermal cutout) and resets after you remove the adapter from the wall power outlet.
You need a new motherboard.

I just install a new dell inspiron 1721 motherboard. i used my friend 19.5 volt dell adapter to test it, however the led light goes out went plugged into the laptop only.

The laptop has a big consumption and you can destroy the power adaptor. Make some measurements before to connect it again( if it is still good)

How do i find out what motherboard i have that came out of a dell inspirion?

You can go to Click on Support in the upper left corner. Find the link on the page for System Configuration (under Product Support). You will need the service tag # (Usually found on a sticker marked Dell somewhere on the PC) Otherwise, Google the product # (Inspiron 6000 for example) and search for motherboard.
