The squealing noise coming from your dryer is caused by the front glides located on the top bearing, they act like a pad against the drum and when gone, will make an awful squealing. part number for the 4 glides that may be needed is WE3X87 this is a common problem as it is a wearable part. if you don`t replace these in time it will grind all the way through your top bearing and start to deteriorate your drum. if its been like this for a while you may also need a GE drum bearing they come in short and long sizes. and are relatively cheap to replace.hope this helps

The knob seems striped will not turn and pliers will not turn it. The dryer was running perfect until yesterday. It is a G.E. But I cannot find a model # this is just a guess.
