I have a cobra 25 ltd and when i key the mic the gauge of the db barley goes up. is something wrong ? also the gauge says its measuring tx power what does that actually mean/ do

TX means transmit. There are 3 settings for the meter. The top one is to measure your TX/RX that's transmit and receive. CAL is to calibrate the meter to check your SWR.

Reasons your needle may not be moving much when you key while on TX/RX. The dynamic is probably all the way down. That is your mic gain. If you turn that up when you talk the needle will swing more. If the radio is stock and not modded, you can turn this all the way up and leave it.

Also there could be something wrong with the mic. If people can hear you then its not the mic.

If people can hear you fine when you transmit, it may just be a bad meter. Not a big problem, you will just need an external meter to make sure you swr is not high.this is important because if it is over 1.5 you run the risk of blowing the final transistor.

How do i adjust dead key on a cobra 25 ltd classic cb
The only "adjustment" is the AM POWER trimmer. Lowering this will lower your dead key but will also lower your "swing" power. the TX circuit must be modified to lower the dead key and maintain full output. there are many articles on the web for such modification.

Put another **** on 29 ltd and lost key up and receive but it still lights up. What you thank is wrong. 5 different mics, all work in my other radios. I heard something chatter and it would not tx or rx...
Check to make sure that there is noting shorting out inside of the radio. some mic plugs can turn from overtighting the mic connector.. also check the pins they may be broke or compressed too much and won't make connection to any mic.. Pin 1 is ground and pin 4 is rx.. take a jumper wire across those and see if you get rx back. same for tx pin 3.. jumper pin 1 and 3 should have a key up. pin 2 is your of course audio. these should be first things to check. cobras unidens and galaxys, connex, genlee etc. are wired the same. midlands and radioshacks ge are different. so make sure your mic is wired for a cobra or galaxy also.. any mic will work on any radio. as long as is it wired to it correctly....

I have a Cobra 25 ltd classic that when you key the mic it will tx for about three seconds and then stop, if you unkey the mic for about 12 seconds it will reset itself and then tx again, it will repeat...
I assume the the antenna is a good match and it receives well. An over heating final can be the culprit, can be caused by poor heat transfer from the final and the protection circuit will kick in. The final may be damaged and replacement is needed but without looking at the radio my self, these are only best ideas. If I can be of more help email me at.... [email protected]

1 Shield 2 White 3 Red 4 Black if the radio keys up as soon as you turn it on reverse 3 and 4 I am not familiar with that mic.But the way I actually should have given you the wiring order is as follows:1Shield 2 Modulation 3 and 4 key up I hope this helps.

No sound
The Cobra 25 requires the mic to be working for any sound to come out. My suggestion is that you first try a new mic. If this doesn't work, look real close at the board on the soldered side ( around the if section, thats the area that right under the waxed area on the component side of the board ) for cold solder joints ( broken lead solder) You may need a magnifing glass. Good Luck
