Operating system not found, hard disk not found message showing in IBMT20

there is problem with your hard disk. your hard disk wire may be loose. try to remove and refix all sata wires of your hard disk. "operating system not found" message may be coming because you may have not installed any os (windows, linux or mac) in your notebook. try to install operating to system to fix this. there may also be proble with your hard disk, your hard disk may be dead. if your notebook is showing message "operating system not found" without any reason then you may have put your notebook in high magnetic field area. due to high magnetic field, sometimes hard disk's are formatted automatically.

I think you just erased your hardrive. (Or it wouldn't show the Operating system not found message).
That means your data is already lost. (Unless you have 2 harddrives in your pc)

Get a Windows Installer CD from a trusted source. ( Maybe the local computer store can lend you one)
Test this cd on another pc (By just booting the cd , not by running the installer!)

Install Windows using this cd (Start it using F12 like you said)

that's common in norton that's why i'm not using it anymore,they are repeating scanning virus even you delete or remove..and they also hard to remove from your system..on my part i restore my system to when before i installed norton..so do the restoration system

just try to repair your OS if you are using windows xp. use that repair option after F8 during installation of XP.

You probably are using Windows XP. With this error, you must re install your Windows XP operating system with your XP CD.

go to your BIOS Setup, see to it that there is a Hard Disk Boot Priority, maybe you didn't put it there.

I think low level formatting should do the trick. you can download it and its free. In your case try to download the DOS based version. This type of formatting erases the entire disk clean.

Installing an operating system from one computer and inserting it into another computer will not work specially when they are from different manufacturers because the components in them are different.
The Windows install has to be done on the intended computer.
The media test failure error message refers to a faulty disk controller or a faulty hard disk.

Run diagnostics on the harddrive. if possible reseat the Hard drive, i.e take it out and put it back again. and then try installing the OS. remember you have to boot from the laptop to install OS. Hope you are doing it correctly

Before you did the install did you make sure that you set your CMOS setting to check for a cd disk first before booting straight to the hard drive? When you do an install, you must make sure that the computer knows to look for a bootable disk otherwise it will look for an operating system to boot to first. If this is the problem, after you have installed your operating system you must go back and reset your CMOS settings to look for a hard drive or operating system.
