Limited service and No space for text !

I just bought a Prada LGKE850 a message that says no space for text messaging in sim appears. I have service with AT&T sometimes it picks up service and then at the bottom of the clock it says limited service and I can't make or recieve calls. There is a small icon at the top of the screen that appears that looks like a sim card. How do I fix?

The sim card works fine in my other phone, how do I reset the phone

  • Fiate6 Dec 26, 2007

When I go tom sim service it says sim service not supported!

  • Fiate6 Dec 26, 2007

Yes it shows full signal bars, the reset is asking for a security code I don,t have one or where should I get this info.

  • Fiate6 Dec 26, 2007

I take that back I do not have full signal strength

  • Fiate6 Dec 26, 2007

When it is in limited service mode I don,t have full signals, but when I pick up at&t I have full signal. Since it is unstable with my service provider do I have a useless phone?

  • Fiate6 Dec 26, 2007

I deleted all my text messages and the memory logo is still there, havn't tried resetting yet

  • Fiate6 Dec 26, 2007

One more question u have been most helpful, when you say change to another service provider do u mean switch from at&t for better operator coverage

  • Fiate6 Dec 26, 2007

I just found out that my phone is tri-band and should work on 800/1800/1900mhz which at&t carries maybe this info can help us.

  • Fiate6 Dec 26, 2007

I talked with at&t and they stated what u said at first the sim card issue, my sim card is about 2yrs old with is there 2G and maybe if I upgrade to the new 3G it might be able to pull better signal because of the upgraded technology installalled in that sim card. I'll let u know!

Hi,

It appears that the problems are sim card related. Making the sim card isn't sitting in the slot properly or there is something (such as dust) intefering with the connection between the card and the phone. Take the card out and wipe it gently and insert it back in and make sure it goes all the way in. If this doesn't help, youw sim card could have been damaged. If possible try another sim in your phone and see if the same problem occurs. If it still occurs reset the phone and see if that helps. If not, then it's a hardware malfunction specifically the sim card slot (which in this case, you will need it serviced). It's most probably a problem with the sim card. A new one should solve the problem.

Sim services are dependant on your operator. Not every operator supports it (it also requires a sim that has the services enabled). To reset the phone you need to go to settings and there should be a reset setting button there towards the bottom. Say, does your phone show full signal bars?

The default code is 0000 if it hasn't been changed. When you phone goes into limited service mode do you have full signals? and is it still connected to AT&T? The reason I am asking about signals is the fact that GSM phones that use the 900/1800 Mhz frequencies don't work well in the States since the 850/1900 Mhz is the dominant frequency. The Prada is a 900/1800 dual band phone...hence making it pretty unstable in connecting with your service provider (in your case AT&T which has more 850/1900 coverage than 1800...900 is not used).

Regarding your "no space for text messaging" problem...your phones messaging memory is full and deleting old messages will solve this problem. The logo that you see on your screen that looks like a sim should be in fact a memory card symbol. When a card is being used the logo will be shown and if no card, then no logo will be shown.

Thanks for cleaing it up...about the signal. Like I explained before, this is happening because of the coverage by your network provider. Unfortunately, there isn't a solution to this. It's either move to an area with better 1800 Mhz coverage or change to another operator in your area that may offer better 1800 coverage.

That logo you see just indicates if a memory card (the microSD card) is present inside the phone. If you remove the memory card the logo will go away. Now, that you deleted your messages...you should have no prblems with text messaging.

Sorry that I overlooked the 1900 band. Chances are when you phone finds the ATT signal it is on the 1900 band. The problem is the 850 band has the best coverage (alot more than the 1900 band). That's why most US market GSM phones have both the 850 and 1900 (to ensure maximum coverage). 900/1800 is used in the rest of the world. What you decide to do is up to you...change phones or change carrier or change location...

In 2008 most or all analog cellphones will be useless as the comm industry is switching all cellphone use to digital. this follows through with the tv industry as they are also switching over to digital. Roger's comm in canada is about the only analog carrier.

How do i transfer contacts and texts to my sim card

Dear user,

For transfer of phone numbers on SIM card you have to go to phone book menu and enter options , inside these option you may find copy phone numbers to SIM card or vice versa, its always good to keep SIM as default memory if you keep changing phones but at the same time you will have limited space and limited flexibility of data storage per contact

As far as transferring SMS on SIM I dobut if its possible now, one thing could be you set your phone now in such a manner that all messages get saved in the SIM memory, this setting maybe available in messages settings.

Retrieve 'bumped out 'message from phone

I am going to have to side on the No side. Some phones have a small limited memory to store these messages, so when that space runs out, the system removes the last text to make room for new ones. I had a friend with a Moto Q on Verizon (CDMA = No SIM) and it was her biggest complaint.

My advice is to erase all the messages you dont want as you get them in, that way this wont happen.

Also, backup the phone, you can find the utilities online. Verizon does offer a backup service in their cloud for your address book. I know you use Boost, which is owned by Sprint (not verizon as you indicated). Boost uses the Nextel technology of Sprint which is iDen. That is closely related to GSM.

Net net...call your service provider that is your only option. I am sorry.

To use a Prada phone bought in Sweden in U.S.

Your phone Prada which is designed in Sweden, can't be used in your place. So it needs to be OPENLINE. I mean open to all networks. Needs to go to cellular service center.

Text messages

You can use the move to feature.
On your main text Inbox window (in mobile), click on options/more and you should have a choice to move messages to SIM card. Once done, you can use a card reader and transfer them to your laptop.
