First of all check what is the status of the wireless Light. Is it White/Blue or Amber? If Amber then swipe in your finger on the Quick Launch button to turn it on.If it is not working then Make the Connection in the following manner: The Ethernet cable comming from Modem goed to the WWAN port of the Linksys's Back Panel.Connect the Other Ethernet Port into the Port 1 of the router and the other end of the cable to the NB's Ethernet port. And then open the Internet Explorer and type in at Address Bar 192.168.1.1 and then press enter. The Gateway page will prompt for username and password
The Default user name is:admin and password is:admin.type it over there and login.
go to the wireless-->Security Settings and select the type of security ,select wpa and then make changes according to your requirements...

I have problems with my Dell wireless. I tried tried to install Linksys wireless. Now the linksys has been installed on my desktop. But i dont see any wireless networks on the systrayit is not connecting...

First--does your Dell have wireless capability? Most new computers do.
Next, is there a wireless switch that you must turn on--on the computer case?
Next--there is a Fn-Special function key combo that will turn on your wireless card. Did you press that combo?
Now look in you network connections--is there a wireless connection there and is it enabled?
You can also check in the device manager to see if the wireless card (under network devices) is there and is functioning. You may have to install or update the drivers.
Once you have installed or enabled the wireless device, you will see a wireless icon in the system tray.

I had usualy solved mysterious problems with other intel PRO wireless cards not authenticating, loosing signal, etc, by simply upgrading to the latest intel drivers.
Also using the Intel connection manager instead of the windows or Dell/other notebook manfucaturer's product is far more reliable.
Hope this helps.

Dell pc will not work with linksys router

HI Boston
I believe the wireless card that you have in your laptop is a dell wireless card.

Here are the instructions on how to get your wireless working
Start-All programs-dell wireless-dell wireless wlan card utility-open the window and on the uncheck let this tool manage your wireless.
Please make sure that Enable radio is checked otherwise no wireless networks will be detected by the computer.
Once that is done go to start control panel in the left hand side make sure classic view is what is there. Go to network connection and you would see wireless network connection. Right click and click on view available wireless networks.
click on refresh network list if any of the networks are not seen.
Still no go try to enable the radio of your wireless card by pressing fn+F2 and then try.

if your getting limited or connectivity right click on wireless network connection go to properties, select on the top the tab wireless networks and remove your network from the preferred networks click on ok.

now get back to view available networks and try to connect to your wireless network.

make sure if there is a security on ur network you are aware of the ntework key and its case senstiive as well. otherwise ask linksys to give it to u.

if your wireless says connected check the ip address and post it here . for finding ip address start-run-cmd-click on ok

in the command window type ipconfig and post the ip address here.

alternatively also try updating the wirless card from the site

thank you do post your results and feedbacks if any

Compatibility between linksys WRT54G Router and Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Driver

from what you say, it sounds as if you have your wired and wireless card connected at the same time. This will confuse the router as it is trying to give two different ip addresses to the one pc, which it cannot do. If you are using the wireless adapter, make sure you dissable the wired adapter as the router will continually look for the wired ip address while allocating your wireless adapter causing instability. Next ensure you have a good clear signal from router to notebook as this can obviously cause problems. Lastly ensure that the wireless cards TCP/IP properties are set to obtain ip address automatically, especially if your router is DHCP enabled to allocate ip addresses automatically.
