Cant install because directx 8.1 not present

You should be able to install the software even though you have a higher version of DirectX. But you need to have a version of DirectX installed.

When i last install Adobe Photoshop its ok... but after i reformat and try to install its ok also... but when i run... IT says Direct3d not supported... on the last reformat the directX is working fine...

It's important to let me know the operating system installed on the system with the system configuration. I will be glad if you can at least reply my post with those info.
I guess you are running windows Xp with the chipset which doesn't support Direct X 10 or newer version. Or in other words, windows vista or windows 7 with incompatible chipset for directX newer version.

First uninstall the currently installed DirectX and reinstall Direct X 9. You have to uninstall the currently installed direct x properly, and it's also important to clean the registry after it's uninstalled. After it's removed, restart your computer and reinstall Direct X 9. That'll definitely fix your problem.

If you need my further help, let me know with the details i've mentioned above so that I can help you better and with easiest instrucitons/methods.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Something is Wrong with my computer (Vidoe card probelm)

If the display is working fine for you and you're seeing everything just fine, ignore the message. If you're needing the additional graphics capability, you'll need to install the updated video driver.

If you don't know the make and model of your video card, go into Control Panel> System> Device Manager and look at your display adapter. Double click on the adapter to get more info.

Then I would go to the manufacturer's website and download and install the driver for your video card. The error message should disappear next time you run the diagnostic.

First of all, you should not even mention that is a cracked version, I will fake I did not hear that. I am sure you installed the pirate version only to test it on your computer, and you will buy the original if this works.

Regarding the games here are the specification:

Minimum System Requirements:
You must have these minimum system specifications for the game to function correctly. We do not provide support for configurations that do not meet the minimum requirements.
  • Operating System: Microsoft Windows® 2000/XP (Windows 95/98/ME/NT Not Supported)
  • CPU: Pentium 4 1.5Ghz or Athlon XP Equivalent
  • RAM: 512MB
  • Graphics: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible video card which supports Hardware TnL and Pixel Shader 2.0 (GeForce FX / Radeon 9500 or higher)
  • Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0c Compatible Sound Card
  • DVD-Rom: Quad-speed (4x) Dvd-Rom Drive
  • Hard Drive: 5.0GB free disk space
  • Input Devices: 100% Windows 2000/XP compatible Mouse and Keyboard (Gamepads and controller are not supported)
Recommended System requirements:
  • CPU: Pentium 4 2.4Ghz or Athlon XP/64-bit equivalent
  • RAM: 1024MB
  • Graphics: ATI X800 series, Nvidia GeForce 6800 series or higher video card
  • Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0c Compatible Sound Card, Sound Blaster X-Fi series
  • DVD-Rom: Eight-speed (8x) DVD-Rom drive or faster
  • Hard Drive: 5.0GB free disk space
This game requires a CPU of at least 2.4 Ghz and a powerful video card, such as
ATI X800 series, Nvidia GeForce 6800 series or higher.

You also need
DirectX 9.0c installed, that may be the reason why it does not start.
Try downloading
DirectX 9.0c here, if it does not work, then, providing that CPU is good enough, you will need to upgrade video adapter or get a new computer.

Download from here and install:
Download details: DirectX End-User Runtime
Download details: DirectX 9.0c Redistributable for Software Developers

Sometimes you need an overpowered computer to play latest games, standard computers are usually not powerful enough for new games, that is the reason why they invented Xbox and PS.

Installation Arts & Crafts Fisher Price (Problem)

I actually have a WORKING solution!! This is the e-mail that Fisher Price Customer service sent to me after 3 calls to them, 1 to Microsoft:

"After review of the logs you sent to us, your video card NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 was last updated on 5/16/08. Please contact your video card manufacturer for an updated driver. Also, inquire if your card is compatible with DirectX 9 and DirectX 10. The Digital Arts and Crafts Studio requires DirectX 9 or higher to operate. You will then need to sign on to your computer as the administrator and update your video card." (Make sure your video card is compatible and the drivers are up to date.)

"Go to to scan your computer for necessary updates and make sure you check the "Software Updates" that are available. (Not just the critical updates) You will want to download and install ALL updates relating to the .NET Frame work. (Including the newer versions)."
(I just went in and installed all the updates that were waiting for me- except for things that I know I don't want, like the new IE)

"Your DXDiag is showing a DirectX error, please reinstall DirectX from the DACS installation disc.
Insert the DACS CD, and then cancel the installation when it starts.
Go to My Computer, locate the DACS CD, right-chick to Explore, locate and click into the DirectX subdirectory.
Locate the file DXSETUP.exe and launch."
(Check to see what version of DirectX you have. Even if you think it's up to date, it may be a good idea to install the version on the CD...)

I believe either reinstalling DirectX or the Windows Update saved me. I'd been having issues with Windows XP before this because remnants of my Windows 98 were hanging around and ruining things. Something in my DirectX had been creating errors as well, even though it claimed NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND...

I don't know. I just did everything, crossed my fingers, and now my little sister has her Arts & Crafts Design Studio! I hope if anyone is still checking this, this solution helps them, too.

Overlay Error

What version of DirectX are you using? Have you installed any programs recently that may have installed a lower version of DirectX? Do you have Novell Networking? the above site states the same problem. Have you tried a firmware update for the dvd player? Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim
