The vertical IC needs resoldered and the caps in the immediate area checked and replaced. This is a good starrt for repair.

- It could be one of two types i believe in this case. Idon't think the Ic is bad...Look for either IC# starting with the letters TDA or LA78 series. It is located on a heatsink to draw heat from the IC. So I would suggest if you can find the 7 pin {TDA} IC...look for rings around the pins..this must be resoldered. The LA78 series has 7, 9 or 13 pins and used in older TVs.Oct 13, 2009
