While watching a movie, the frames will freeze and the movie stops as if the pause button has been pressed. Hitting play does nothing and when I stop the show, open the disc tray, reinsert the disc, it stays on 'loading' for a long time, then comes back with the legend "incorrect disc." Odd thing to see especially after being well over an hour into the movie. I try other discs and get the same result. These are discs rented from Blockbuster. I successfully watched anther movie without any hitches. The discs are cleaned prior to inserting.
-   While watching a movie the screen suddenly froze. Now none of my movie DVD's will load. Thre is some crunching sound in th player as if it is trying to load. Only had the player for a short time. I am the only one using it so it has not been mistreated. Draw will open, all commands are showing but the DVD will just not load.-   dutchess50
I've had similar problems with my toshiba dvd (same model) and I found that the player needs to be perfectly level. Once I leveled the machine, 99% of the problems I had with skipping or disks not playing simply went away. Toshiba really should know better, but what do you want from a bargain-priced unit?
have you tried cleaning the laser lens if you have then the chip, is going out on the board, you will end up needing the board the chip is hard to find. but try the cleaning first.
Your DVD player is having a problem reading the disc. This is what is accounting for the pausing and the slow loading times...especially if it plays other movies without hitches. Even if the DVD is cleaned, some scratching on the disc will prevent it from being viewed properly. Blockbuster shoudl give you another disc to try of the same movie if you ask. Also, you can try getting a cleaner for your DVD player to remove dust and help it read discs better.
