Question about Chi Mei Corporation 221D-NBC Monitor

1 Answer

The color of the screen is not correctly appearing.

When the computer is turned on and the monitor is turned on the color appears to have a blueish or greenish tint to it. So I can't tell what the colors really are on the screen. The only colors I can really identify are yellow, blue, grey, and black. Please help!

Re: The color of the screen is not correctly appearing.

If your monitor has color controls try them,if your monitor has auto adjust try that too.if you can test the monitor on another computer try that as well to verify the monitor is causing the problem.if none of this works its safe to assume that the color control circuitry in the monitor has failed and with todays monitor prices it is cheaper to replace than to repair.

If the picture disappears from the screen and the
1 (power) indicator is green
Turn off the 1 (power) switch and disconnect the
video signal cables from the monitor.
Turn the monitor on by pressing the 1 (power)
If all four color bars appear (white, red, green, blue), the monitor
is working properly. Reconnect the video signal cables and check
the condition of your computer(s).
If the color bars do not appear, there is a potential monitor failure.
Inform your authorized Sony dealer of the monitor's condition.
Be sure to note the model name and serial number of your

My whole screen has a blueish green tint

  • Make sure the plugs are hard into the sockets, one loose pin can cause strange colour problems.
  • A faulty signal cable between PC and monitor can also cause colour problems, try a different cable if possible
  • Try it on a different computer to find out whether the computer or the monitor is the problem. If it's the monitor and none of the above works, it will need service or replacement. If it's the computer, your video card is likely to be the problem.

Dell E173FPc monitor. Screen is black, power button color cycles

First, verify the monitor is functional.
Monitor STFC (Self Test Feature Check)
Turn off the monitor
Plug the monitor power cord directly into the wall socket to remove any
surge protectors or APCs from the troubleshooting equation
Unplug the monitor video cable from the back of the computer
Turn on the monitor
The floating dialog box should appear on screen against a black background.
If the issue appears during the STFC, the monitor is defective.
What are the results please?

Monitor is blueish

If the Blueish problem appears try play around with the VGA cord and see if the Colors comes back, if not, try hiting the monitor to see if the lines and color problem comes bcak to normal. If not your monitor's circuit board needs some dry solder, it could be the cold solder problem. Cheers.
