Dell xps wont boot from dvd just cd

Sounds like you have only a CD drive. To boot DVDs you need to have a DVD drive installed. The computer probably came with a CD drive because Win XP came on a CD.

Dell xps 210 win xp media. I got this computer used, it had crashed and the previous owner tried to recover it with Dell recovery disk. I't will not boot from recovery cd, so I tried win xp boot disks but...

Have you tried a factory restore? It will wipe out everything and set it back to the condition it came in when perchased. You should get the choice to system restore when you restart your computer. Watch at the bottom of the screen and you will get a choice of "F" buttons to press. One will say somthing like F10-System Restore. When you see which one it is press that F key a few times and it will walk you through a restore.

First unplug all the connections from the pc. No cable at should be connected on the back. Keep pressing the power button for a minute completely without leaving it. Connect only the necessary cables which is power , keyboard and mouse ....nothing else.
Try if this works.....if no please reply for furthur help

My Dell XPS M 15so will not start

If you have the installation discs I'd suggest booting into them or the recovery partition by pressing F12 and either selecting CD/DVD ROM or Recovery Partition.

Once in there make sure to select Repair your Installation by pressing R and continue once you get into the Command Prompt to run a check disk scan. To do this simply type chkdsk /r. This will compare the Windows files on your system with the files on the disc to ensure they are the same and not corrupted.

After that upon reboot you should be able to boot. Good luck!

My Dell xps 400 will not boot up completely, then won't power off

It sounds like the machine is experiencing hardware problems. You will either need to call Dell or take it into a local computer repair place.
