Problem with threads not catching

I am new to embroidering and I have just recieved a used deco bernette 600 from my mother-in-law. The machine worked well for the first 2 or 3 things that I embroidered. Currently, I am having difficulty with the machine. I get an error message saying Check upper or lower threads may be cut . I have looked it all over and what it is looking like to me is that the upper thread is not catching the bobbin thread. I have tried changing the bobbin the tread and the fabric. Can anyone tell me what could possibly be the problem and how to fix it ? Thanks

We have the same problem all of a sudden. Has worked perfectly for years, now?? I assume it is a triming problem, but is that something we can fix ourselves?

I have a bernette deco 500 & a brother PE 150 and i'm all of the sudden having the same problem. The upper thread won't catch the bobbin thread. It's a very disgusting problem as i have some custom embroidery deadlines and i've tried everything i could think of to fix it, and haven't had any luck.

I am having the same problem. I get the message that upper or lower thread may be cut and what i find is a big knotted mess on the bottom. I have changed the needle , rethreaded upper and lower threads, cleaned out around the bobbin, but it still keeps happening.

MY problem started when I broke a needle. Changed needles, rewound bobbin thread, checked for loose/tangled threads, and even tried lowering the needle. None of it has helped!

Try putting in new needles. Make sure they are in the proper position. There is a stopper which keeps the needle down far enough to make the right connection. Sometimes the needle stopper, after long use, moves up a little which prevents the needle from going low enough to pick up the bobbin thread. You could try lowering the needle just a little. Not to far, or it will break the needle. Sewing machines need a lot of oil. Not all at once but a drop or two after an hour of use. All lint needs to be removed from under and around the bobbin before it is oiled. Keeping the machine clean and oiled is the life of the machine.

Is the bobbin supposed to move on the Bernette Deco 600?

The bobbin will move only when the thread is being pulled. The problem with your machine is that the timing has missed aligned. It will need service. 99% of all sewing machine misalign due to continued use.

I have the Deco 600 and it's a workhorse! I love the machine. I just had it serviced and now when I embroidery and use white bobbin thread it shows on top. I have tried adjusting the tension like the...

I have a 600 also...have you changed brand of white thread? Sometimes it can be the design you are embroidering that will bring bobbin thread to the top. I use the prewound bobbins--very thin thread & tightly wound.

DOES THE BERNINA BERNETTE DECO 600 ACCEPT .ART EMBROIDERY DESIGNS SUCH AS I USE FOR MY ARTISTA 730E? ALSO, DOES BROTHER MAKE THE BERNINA BERNETTE DECO 600?

Not sure if you found anything out, but Deco 600 uses PES format only.
If you have the software (Deco Wizard) sometimes you can change it to PES and save the design.
Good luck

Bernina Bernette 600 Deco embroidery machine

It could be that there is a loose piece of thread, or some fluff which is obstructing the tension gauge. Try blowing around the theading area (or even run the hoover pipe near it to see if you can **** it out). I cleared mine by folding a piece of non fluffy material and rubbing gently between the tension dial and machine.

Good luck
