Question about Fujitsu 24R1 Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Air Conditioner - Fujitsu - 24R1 - Electrical Installation

I have had a second hand wall mounted split system aircon installed. Once the installation was completed by the electrician he noted that it would blow the incoming mains supply fuse (& not the aircon breaker). The compressor was running and "loading up" just before the fuse pops. The inside unit would not " turn on" by the remote or by the manual operation button. The electrician said it was because of a fault with the compressor and promptly left. On speaking with a another electrician who feels the mains supply was hooked up incorrectly to the aircon. Since we are in the Holiday period Fujitsu are not open and I was hoping someone may be able to help with a electrical hook up diagram so I could give it to the second electrcian. We are currently experierencing 40`c so any help would be good.

    Internal unit model# AST24RSG-R

    External unit model# AOT24RWGL

I have been to the Fujitsu General website (Who are separate from Fujistu) who only have a operational manual. I have looked for a installation guide but could not find one. I have searched on the web and found a installation guide for a different model but could not trace it back to Fujitsu for other guides.

Problem fixed, after some investigation with other Fujitsu aircons the electrician and forgotten to check the wiring diagram on the internal unit and hence my problem. I got him back 4 days later and after telling him what needed to be done which was remove the power cable from the compressor and attach via isolator switch to the correct power feed cable which was tucked behind some pipework.

What is the hourly labor rate 2 install this unit

Trades will be very reluctant to give you an hourly rate on split system install as this would deplete the profitability. It depends on the installation, a simple back to back install would take around 3 hours with electrical connection to switchboard. It also depends on brick or fibro walls. Most installations are around 500 Aus dollars total price with the longest time frame of around 4 hours

Installing vari flo top mount valve on hayward filter. Should the the two C clamps come together tightly when install is complete or should there be a gap on the ends? Example (-) vs ()

There is a gap at the ends; about 3/16 to 1/4" give or take. Just hand tighten them and if the valve leaks a little tighten them a little more at a time to avoid splitting the clamps by overtightening.

My mother has an old 'no longer working' reverse cycle unit mounted in her lounge room wall. How does she get it removed, the wall repaired and finally, replace with a 'new'...

No, there is no complete package by itself, the skills required are completely different. But there are local companies that do it both - they employ 2 crews: a building one and an aircon one. You will need to contact different aircon companies locally and ask them some will do that themselves, with their crews, other will arrange for a separate crew to do the wall repair for them before installing the new unit. I can't tell you who to call simply because i do not live in your city.
But you could do some of the work yourself: to remove the unit all you will have to do is to disconnect the unit from the power, take out its securing bolts and just drag it out of the wall. After that you will have to plug the wall hole with some sheets of drywall - it's a 1 hour job, not counting the joint compound drying time and subsequent finishing.

Which is better, a split type aircon or the regular one for home use?

It all depends on your requirement, However people prefer Split type as it less noisy, Can be installed at any place in the room. Easy to operate. Easy to maintain. Does not interfere with the layout in room. Wall mounted/floor resting.
