Question about Onkyo TX-DS575 Receiver
Not sound from sub woofer. HT R 500 Onkyo.
Onkyo to Onkyo, sub/receiver, problem fixed by inceasing volume on receiver. Seems the sub audio input does not pick up LF's below a certain output level from the receiver. So, guess I have to live with that. I only hope my nieghbor in the apartment below me can too!

Also, it could possibly the preout terminal itself that is not working. One way to prove that is by transferring the subwoofer cable from the preout and temporarily transfer it to the tape out section. If it ouputs sound from there, then that means the speaker and the cables are working fine and it's just the preout terminal itself that is not picking up anything. ^_^

The manual is available at retrevo.com.
If you don't have the center and sub defined in the Onkyo they will never work. See page 20.
If that is all set and you still have problems...
To prove the center speaker works, connect it to one of the front channels.
To prove the sub works, connect it via RCA cable(s) to the Tape Out and play something containing deep bass. You should see it come out of standby and hear something, albeit only the deep bass.

SOURCE: Dear Sir, I have purchased Onkyo
It would be better for me to advice you if at least you did mention the price range so that I can refer you between your budget for the same. Since your Onkyo Unit is 5.1, I would highly recommend you to get a 5.1 channel Speaker for the best output and performance. If you prefer a high-end for home, then you can check out this Logitech's Z5500 (Click Here). The price is around $359 and the performance is excellent.
If you would just want to play music and songs at home, I would recommend this Logitech Z506 (Click Here), it's a Surround Sound Speaker and the price is about $100.
Both the machines are compatible with your Onkyo Tx-SR308.
From other brands like "Creative" you can check out here (Click Here)
Still more here, but don't get the Wireless or USB.
If you have problem or if you need further help, please let me know.
Thanks for using FixYa.
