My TV makes a loud buzzing noise whenever there is a bright picture on

This is usually caused by video signals overdriving circuits. Too much video causes what you are describing. This is sometimes caused by a bad cable or connection, either a TV cable or a video cable. Hopefully it's not a projector problem. If you can check the connections from your receivers and VCR with the projector on you might be able to pin point the problem. Be gentle and if there is adoubt about a cable, just replace it.

Mitsubishi WD-52631 shadows and blurs in dark lit movies

If you are getting the same problem with both TV monitors it could then be assumed it's an input problem to the TV monitor. If you are using a digital output from your receiver it could be the cabling. If you are using an analog output from your receiver it is probably coming from the receiver.
Digital video processing does have issues with darker scenes.
Can you try another video source seperate from the receiver like a DVD or better yet an analog VHS, if you still have one. Good luck and let me know.

I have a Toshiba 32af44 TV, the picture is dark on most channels and when watching dvd or playing video games. What do you suspect is wrong? TV was manufactured in 2005.

Hello CAPTKING,

Your TV specs as a flat screen and not a projection TV. So this diagnosis is for that of a flat screen CRT. It appears that your filament voltage might be low or the CRT cathodes have excessive oxidation on them. These are the two primary reasons for this type of failure. The secondary reasons would be low video signal, problems with the screen, focus, or control grids, or low anode voltage (which would also cause picture shrinkage). I would suggest that you take the TV to a qualified TV repair shop to have the work done.

Have them run a diagnostic on the CRT with a CRT analyzer and check the CRT voltages with the TV connected to a video analyzer set at the normal configuration for a color picture.

I hope this helps

Thank you,

Blotchy picture

I get this too with my Samsung. Are you watching HD content or standard (cable, satellite) tv? If it's the latter, that's why. The lack of quality really shows on analog signals. The shows that I Tivo look horrible a lot of times. Another thing is the connection to the television. If you are using standard RCA connectors, try switching to either component or HDMI.

Hope this helps.

PS2 Picture Problem

Hi MG86,

Most PS2 games are dark and auto brightness controls will casue your LCD tv to brighten up automatically in response the dark video coming from PS2 games. I suggest you get into the menu settings of your TV and find a setting that will shut off the auto picture controls.

Black Screen

Ok, this is probably what has happened, you say that you have played games on your tv, well the thing is with HD and Plasma Screen tv's is that when you play Hi-Res games on them the games backdrop will burn itself into the screen, causing the screen to turn dark and not reveal the correct picture it should. People need to learn about this!!!!! Playing games on HD and Plasma tv's will screw up your resolution!!!
