Miele 891 drain and water fill

Help... Ok so first of all the dishwasher would not empty. So I checked the drain hose, removed and flushed, checked the drain. Cleaned the impellers etc. I was JUST about ready to test when I noticed a stainless rod, line a motor shaft in the area of the drain. about 3/8 inch wide, 1/2 inch protrusion into the white drain area below the stainless steel sieve that you remove to gain access. anyway i tried to wiggle this, then stupidly put my finger on the end and applied a little pressure and presto it disappeared inside through the rubber gromet opening. SOOO how do I retrieve this little thing and WHAT was it there for?... Oh and now i get drainage but no water into the machine..Is this related?
Thanks.. Always on Xmas day...

Thanks, i am aware of the basics of a dishwasher. I need to know specifically on the Miele G891 what that stainless steel rod in the drain area that runs through a rubber grommet is for and how to retrieve it into place. Basically I need someone with Miele knowledge or a service manual on this, not a generalist.

I need to know specifics on the miele g891 as to what the stainless steel post in proximity of the drain that protrudes through a grommet on the plastic is for and how to retrieve it into position..(per my post) basically I need meiele knowledge or someone with a manual not generalist theory.

I presume this is a closed system (for obvious reasons and that this post pushed back inside the grommeted area below the bottom of the dishwasher involves gaining access to some area.

Anyone out there with a manual or specific knowledge of Miele? Please guys don't bother posting if you do not. Advice that there is a motor (yeah no kidding) or to call a technician is NOT what I paid for.

That thing I am asking about I assume is a sensor... Just give me a few point form directions to open the thing and what to watch out for and put it back in place.

  • cfulton Dec 26, 2007

There is no manual for this or similar Miele units on the site. So that suggestion does not help.. I looked there before posting.

  • cfulton Dec 26, 2007

That was ONLY the user manual. No detail on sump breakdown...

  • cfulton Dec 26, 2007

i dont supppose ANYONE has a manual?

  • cfulton Dec 26, 2007

Folks so far no one has been able to point me to a link for a service manual, just a user manual. I need detail on disassembly or to know if the sensor in the sump and sump itself is repairable or if its all one factory unit.. this seems unlikely given the way that sensor is mounted.. just a grommett.. Has anyone actually worked on or been trained on Miele? or have a manual?

A technician would be the best idea
Try retrieving the rod using a magnet but I would have an expert look at it, if you call support they are ussually prone to help because they want to keep their good name and such.

until then, its washing dishes by hand.

Hope that helped.

I dono if this is related but if no water is comin into the machine means it shall be due to one thing. motor is not pumping water inside the machine.

It could be a motor or a pump issue. The dishwasher has a motor that
attached to a pump which forces the water up into the sprayer arms and
during the drain cycle, it pushes the water out of the dishwasher.
The motor (and pump) located beneath the dishwasher.
    Good luck!

most of us here gain knowledge from google only brother. i too searched hard for ur manual in net. but every time i dint get any service manual with detail explanations. u say u have already looked at many sites before coming here.
you may have to wait long till any person with hands on experience on tat unit comes for ur rescue. else u can move to cal some technician. second option will be wise instead of waiting for solution here i think

MieleG870sc I can hear the motor, but water does not seem to be coming in and after cycle ended, soap tablet was unused?

Hi,

First the unit drains and then fills with water. When the unit has intially drained open the door and manually fill the unit with water, about 5lts. This will then allow the dishwasher to go to the next step which is to circulate the water. If this works ok then the water tap is defective, water inlet valve is defective or the electronic unit is not sending the signal to activate the valve. The water inlet valve is the white square box attached to the tap. Remove this and check the filter and make sure water comes out of the tap.If ok then remove the bottom panel of the unit under the door. On the right hand side there is a 2 core cable with a male and female connector. Unplug this and check for voltage from the electronic when the unit goes to fill with water. If there is 240v then the electronic is ok. You will then need a new waterproof system from Miele.

hi,

the unit will not fill with water until it will drain as it needs to complete the drain function before it can move onto the next step.

make sure the non return valve under the filter is properly fitted in the sump of the unit. then check the drain spigot under the sink where the drain hose connects to the sink u bend. This is the most common causes of a blocked drain.

Our Miele G984SC does not start and the drain/intake light has been on since we cannot start it

Is machine full of water? If yes, you probably have a drain problem. Check drain pump impellor is turning freely (instructions for this available from Miele website-go to Customer Support link, and download user guide for your model-it contains instructions for removing filers and accessing drain pump). If this is OK, check for kinks in drain hose, and check for blockage where drainhose connects to spigot on waste pipe (usually under your sink). If machine is draining OK and light still flashing, you may have problem with inlet valve/hose assembly-recommend calling service agent to repair.

Hi. The above machine stops mid cycle and drain/fill light is on, also error code F3E, have cleaned both hot and cold water inlet filters, also checked drain pump and drain line, all ok. Machine drains with no issues and fills with hot water, runs for a while then shuts down.
Any ideas?

Miele g841sc dishwasher leaks

Typically the machine only uses 5-6 quarts of water, If you're floor is getting 1 or 2 quarts check for a loosly connected intake or drain hose. I've never seen any overflow drain on a Miele. It only fills the bottom of the tub. The machine uses a logic program that continuously checks the level of fill and drain by water pressure weight so it always runs with proper amount, even if your intake pressure is weak. Now, If you add too much soap then the bubbles can carry a few ounces over a worn door seal. If the seal is damaged then more spray arm water can run down the front of the machine into the float pan. But after it gets less than a pint of water the drain float will start thr drain pump and shut-off the machine controls and alert you. It won't let you run the machine until the water ( and the problem) is gone. Call Miele for help.
