Latitude LSs donty have SD card readers.

Buy a PCMCIA card reader like this one and stick it in the side of the machine to read your cards

Won t recognize sd card

It seems that the card reader if the computer is not detecting the card. Make sure that the memory card you use is supported.
The multi-in-one card reader on the Aspire One can read and write to Secure Digital card (SD), Secure Digital High Capacity card (SDHC), MultiMediaCard (MMC), Memory Stick (MS), Memory Stick PRO (MS PRO), and xD-Picture Card (xD). Specific models of the Aspire One are also equipped with an SD Expansion slot that can read and write to Secure Digital (SD) and Secure Digital High Capacity card (SDHC) cards.
The multi-in-one card reader on the Aspire One can read and write to miniSD, microSD, Memory Stick Duo,and Memory Stick PRO Duo cards but require the use an adapter. Acer does not provide or support any memory card adapters.
You can try removing the card reader using the device manager and the reinstall it and check the operation. You may also try using the card is different computer and check. Also try using another card in the computer with the issue and check. If the issue is not resolved please revert back with the model number.

Laptop wont read sd card

You do not say, but before ejecting an SD card you should use the Safely remove hardware feature. If you do not do so you may damage your SD card, and you run into problems such as you describe.

Have a sony vaio notebook that will read a kodak sd card but will not read a transcend sd card. any help would be appreciated

Please check if the Computer supports SD card of larger capacity.
If preinstalled OS is Windows XP Operating System, supports SD card from 512 MB to 2 GB max and does not support SDHC card.
Windows Vista and Windows 7 Computer supports SD and SDHC card upto 8 GB to 16 GB,.

My SD card reader on my Sony Vaio will not read the seems to know its in the slot, but won't read any data and says 'insert the SD card' if I go to computer and try to read it. Any thoughts?

Take a can of air and blow some into the slot to make sure dust or dirt isn't getting the way of that reader trying to read the sd cards.

If you still get the same message try another SD card in that reader or try to see if another computer will read your SD card, if another computer will read the SD card and the slot still won't recognize the sd cards properly, then you know at that point the reader is bad. If the reader is bad, thats integrated into the motherboard so the motherboard would need to be replaced.

Sd card slot is not working

Check on the manufacturer's website, and check your SD card, I've heard of some SD card readers on laptops not being able to read High-Capacity SD cards. One way you can test, is go down to your local supermarket and just buy a small, el-cheapo SD card and plug it into the computer and see if it reads. If it does, then chances are pretty good the SD card you were originally trying to use, is a HC-SD Card, and your computer does not support them. If that is the case, you can usually buy a USB adapter (average prices are $10-20 USD) to stick the SD card into, and then plug it in via US and transfer pictures to/from that way. If the cheapo SD card doesn't work though, then you may have a problem with the card reader on the laptop itself, and should probably seek assistance from an authorized service provider, or contact Dell directly, if you computer is still under warranty.
