Trying to lift this behemoth of a TV myself onto TV stand and it slipped and screen first to floor. No cracks or breaking of screen, but when it is turned on I have rainbow colors (mainly purples greens). I am guessing it is a Degaussing issue. But I wonder with a CRT if this will solve itself eventually. What are some things to try myself?
Thanks!

- So if it is a Shadow Mask, you are saying that a new TV will be worth getting than fixing this TV?
A TV tube does not have to break for it to be damaged and I know of cases like yours. It's more than possible that the shadow mask inside the tube has slipped because of the impact.
I would get a service engineer in just to get another opinion, but that's what it sounds like to me and if that is the case then the TV is a scrapper!
ALL THE BEST!

You are very welcome! But please don't go lifting massive, heavy, TV sets by yourself - get someone to help you in future.

That is exactly what I am saying! But get a second opinion BEFORE you do anything like buying a new set. If it is the shadow mask inside the tube, then it will work out cheaper to get a new set. Rainbow effect on damaged tubes are not good!
CRT's are very expensive to replace!

As of a few days ago, My TOSHIBA TV MOD.32AF43 has shown a faded image with many horizontal lines across the screen. My TV was purchased probably in the year 2003/2004. I have checked all wires/cables behind the TV and the TV cable entering the house. What could be wrong with the TV? Can is be fixed? Jon
