Problem for Mitsubishi VS-60707 60 in. Rear Projection Television

Television is on then screen will flicker and tv

By toekneesanfi on Oct 11, 2009

television is on then screen will flicker and tv will turn off. will be able to turn on again after an unspecified time. this condition continues, especially if the set has been on for a longer period of time. if the power button is pressed immediately after it has just shut off, the power on light will come on then go out. is this a circuit breaker issue inside the set, short to ground, or tube going out? it's a recurring intermitten problem.

- thank you for your response. i am getting a troble code of 2 4. where can i find what this means.

- i see the crt you are refering to (crt-g in this case). is the coolant a fluid or gas? i do not see any puddle or drip around the crt-g as well as the other two crt-r and crt-b. nothing looks cracked inside.

- i do not see any white residue or like discoloration on the three circuit boards behind the speaker grill. however, on the center circuit board behind the speaker grill (corrosponding with crt-g) i see a black mark like a burn section on the corner. there is a white connector with 5 wires (2red, 2 blue, 1 yellow) where the black mark is. the other two circuit boards do not have this and look otherwise normal.

Clarification Request

Glycol is a clear liquid in a sealed unit that cools the face of each of the three tubes--if it has leaked you will not see a large amount--it will look like discoloration--white on top of the front few inches of the circuit boards--if you see any of this DO NOT TOUCH IT--it is 10 times more toxic than anti-freeze! It damages circuit boards-----from the front of the set with the speaker grill and inspection plate behind it removed look very close at the first few inches of the 3 circuit boards--it will not look like a large thing--subtle---discoloration of parts on top of board--- like a white powder or discoloration of solder connections--a little like battery cables in a car that go bad..... this is a older set and lots of these had this kind of problem--the later sets they made actually had a plastic tray under the tubes to catch any that leaked. I hope you do not find signs of Glycol--it is usually fatal in these sets. I am here to help. Regards SD TECH

Unusual--2, then 4 means problem in Vertical deflection circuit---you may want to look for coolant leaks from the center crt--do you know what I am talking about?

Posted by SD Tech on Oct 11, 2009

the next time it shuts off press on the front of the set both the menu and input buttons for 5 seconds and release both---power light on set should blink a two digit code--it will repeat it 10 times---this may point you in what direction the problem is... There is currently on this site a glitch where when clarification requests are posted we do not see a response--if you need more help you can re-post with what the error code was or SEARCH MY MANY SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS here. i think i have identified the problem. the center circuit board behind the speaker grill has some burn damage. i didn't see any evidence of coolant leak on these circuit boards.
