Usually the default is the right hand. But either way, you need to bring up the console which can be accessed by pressing the tilde key(~) and if its not on you will need to go to Options>Keyboard>Advanced and turn it on. Once you press the tilde key and the console is open type this, lefthand 1, to switch to left hand or, lefthand 0, to switch to right hand.
You need to install the editor in the same directory as the game. The default is "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin32
In regards to crysis not loading, attempt a reinstall of the game and see if that works. Most problems like this are solved with a fresh install of the game due to the game becoming corrupted in some way.
If it is not working only in specific games, then the issue is most likely with the game itself, or some settings therein. Your keyboard does not require a driver for the key to work. The generic drivers that come built-in with Vista should make any keyboard to work. A keyboard driver is only needed to program the hot keys and play/volume etc. functions.
Try the tilde key in Notepad or MS Word. If it works there, then the issue is with the game. You will have to refer to the game manual to find out how to program the key.
If, however, the key does not work in Notepad / Word either, then your keyboard is most likely defective.
Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions,
