My sister got a wii yesterday and it lasted about 6 hours of playing time until it came up with the message "An error has occured. Press the Eject Button and remove the Disc, then turn to the Wii Operations Manual - System Setup for troubleshooting help."

We tried everything it says to do but still comes up with the same message.

If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. It also gives information on fixing many Wii Related Problems, so its a kind of Wii Problems Reference Fix Guide.

MY DAD IS A GENIUS!!!

If you look at the bottom of the wii in its stand there is a vent for the fan to draw air in. If this is obstructed then the wii will get hot and locks up!!

Try and lift your wii at least 50 mm off a flat surface , it seems to work!!

Hope this helps anyone out there!

We had the same problem, but noticed that we put the second disk in upside down. When we flipped the disk over, it worked!

Same problem here. I stood in line for 6 hours for the Wii, spent almost $500 in the system, games, etc all for Christmas. The thing played ok for about 1 hour and now it will not read any disks. WTF.

Wii does not want to load any disks give me an error message disk read error check wii manual for troubleshooting

Hi there shanes174

What to do when your Wii Has problems with reading disks and you have tried cleaning the disk.

This does not mean your Disk Drive needs replacing more often than not it just needs the laser to be readjusted.

Option 1

You can send this off to Nintendo if your still in warranty because it is included in there free fixes so they will do the collecting for you, fix it and return the Wii to you, all for free, but it will take 4-6 weeks.

Option 2

If you are out of warranty its the same process as above but its $150 in cost

Option 3

now a new Disk drive would cost around $75 for a compatible one and you may need some one to fit it at a cost as well.

Option 4

What I recommend is a Wii Repair Guide that will show you the simple steps yourself, you will be up and running again in less than an hour and the cost is far less than option 2 & 3

Good Luck

The disk cant be read

try the disk on a different wii and load the saved file on memory card and try it from there.if the game works fine with another account then the account that your trying to load is corrupted.if the game does read on a different system then it is your wii.(doubt it but is possible)if the game doesn't work with a new account then it is the cd.

Unplug all connections from the Wii, Tv, and electrical outlets. Wait an hour or 2 then hook everything back up and it should work.

Can't read any disk for long ( all new wii games)

Unfortunately there is no solution as it is probably a bad disk drive. If it was your computer I'm sure you could replace it in under 5 minets, alas its a Wii and there is nothing to be done. I had the same problem with my first Wii and ended up just calling Nintendo. They replaced it under warranty. Try giving them a call, Nintendo Consumer Service: 1-800-255-3700 They are often helpful.

Game not recognized

Hi guest n mikec1993 i had this problem with a new console i brought for my son for xmas. Try cleaning the laser with a cd cleaning disk also wash the disks with luke warm water and a spot of washing up liquid then dry thouroughly before inserting disk into console for some unknown reason the laser dosen't read the disk even when it looks clean. Remember to wipe disk from the inside out lightly i found a old cotton tea cloth works best.
