I'm not completely sure about what you said, but if you are having problems getting on your iPod to browse Internet/email etc.? You do not need a server (e.g. Cell phone type) to get online but you do for the Internet. That should be who ever you have your wifi under, for ex. AT&T Sprint or similar.
