Re: psp

So you are trying to update your firmware and the screen goes black? Can you still hear the startup sound when you switch it on? If you cannot, your psp seems to be bricked, for some diy repair, read my little tip near the bottom of this section, or send it back to sony for repair.

Next time, before you proceed to update firmware, have your battery charged 100%.

My son took it upon himself to upgrade his game system from a website on the internet. now when he trys to turn his console on, the power light comes on but no screen and after 45 seconds shuts itself...

First I should ask what site he "updated" his PSP from? There are so many hack sites that claim free this or that and really can mess things up. What update did he perform? From where? Writing some things can cause a PSP to Brick. Which is in a sense a hard drive crash. Also how one downloads can as well. There are some fuse inside on the main board as well that can go bad. My gut tells me the download went bad and it bricked but I will wait to hear back on my questions.
  • Try this -
  • Remove the battery completely and let the unit power down. Now plug in the AC adapter and turn the unit on leaving the battery out. Do things function normally?
  • Try a hard boot by holding the power button down for 10 full seconds.

My psp won't turn on at all, I was playing it and the screen went black, but the green light was still on, I thought it had crashed so took the battery pack out and when i put it back, nothing. It wont...

your psp is bricked, this usually occurs when your psp shuts off during an update, or you tried to install custom firmware and failed.

your only hope is to get it repaired, or use to use a pandora's battery and try to recover it yourself.

My sony psp 3000 has a version 5.51. how i can i hack it so it can play downloaded games?

The psp 3000 and psp go are designed specifically to prevent this from happening. With each new update you install onto these systems there is new preventative software to ensure that this is not possible. Don't get me wrong there are a few hacks out there for some of the older versions. But I would strongly suggest NOT to do this because like I said before, the new updates (with preventative software) can potentially corrupt the data on the psp when installing a new update and render it completely useless. Usually the hack prevents any new updates from installing at all. While the older games will play just fine. When you try to play a newer game, that needs this updated software and the hack prevents new software updates being installed, you can not play it. And who does not want to play the newest game that comes out. Putting a hack like that on the psp also voids the warranty. Unless you know really well how use a hack like this and uninstall/rewrite/re-install this hack every time an update occures you will find yourself without your psp sooner than you would like.

Sony psp problem

Remove the battery for 15 minutes, connect the AC Adapter and install the battery again.
It that doesn't work, remove the battery again, wait 15 minutes, install it and plug the AC Adapter.
It's a weird problem but in my PSP i get around that way.

New game wont start

This is terrible to say, and I feel bad for you. This sounds as though your PSP is Bricked. Tell all your friends if they are asked to upgrade by a game, plug up your PSP to the power cord and keep it charged during the upgrade needed to run the new games. If your power fails during the upgrade, you will BRICK your PSP. Contact Sony, its their fault.
