The unit does not heat or cool when switched on.

the unit does not heat or cool when switched on. If left on for a while, it occassionally works. It seems to indicate that I need a technitian to have a look at it. I was wondering if there are any fuses or the like that might need replacing making it a quick fix.

try turning it off and back on or unplugging it. as dumb as that sound these things have computers in them now, and not real good ones either. try reseting it, plug in the inside piece 1st and the outside 2nd and see what happens. that usually takes care of 80-90% of problems with minisplits that i occur.
