Question about Akai Region Free Player
Hi I recently bought an Akai DR-R5800PST and opened it this morning to find no matter which method of connecting it to my TV I used (Scart, s vid etc) the sound works perfectly but there is no video. Am I doing something extraordinarily stupid ( quite possible) or do you know of a 'cure'?
The shop I bought it from at the beginning of December I noticed is now closed down so no chance of taking it back:(, and the sound is awesome, just no picture of any sort.
Any help would really be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.
Your tv settings might be the problem. The dvd is plug and play so it should be ready to play with no major adjustments. If it does not work I suggest that you take it back.

If it won't PLAY VHS tapes it must have a serious mechanical problem (if it even loads) or its heads are glommed up, so it obviously won't record them either. When's the last time you ran a cleaning tape through it?
Solve the load or playback problem and it will probably record.
Time and poor storage conditions are the mortal enemies of tapes. Store the in a 'played
