Why can't i get the new memory to work. It works in the other slot so I know it's good. I had a 1 gig and a 512mb working so I tried upgrading the 512 to a 1 gig and now I can only get one slot to work. It doesn't matter which one but I can't get them to both work at the same time now.

Sounds like a memory mismatch likely dual rank and a single rank module. Especially if both modules work in either slot

Your memory rams are having an incompatibility issue.
your macchine goes up to 2 gb i will recommend just to get a second mem of 1gb same ddr2 non ecc cl4 dimm. depending on the brand they have different Mhz. try to use same Mhz. it may be the reason you machine does not work with the 2 modules at the same time.

Testimonial: "I kinda thought that might be but I was in denial cause I don't want to send it back. Thanks"

INSTALLED NEW RAM UPGRADE TO BOOST FROM 1G TO 2G COMPUTER DOES NOT RECOGNIZE NEW RAM STILL SHOWS 1G.

Make sure it is the correct ram for your computer. If you just added one ram chip then try swapping them and make sure they have a tight fit.

To test the new chip replace the old one with it and turn on your machine. If it doesn't see it then it is either bad or not the correct one.

Let me know how it goes.

My computer freezes when I add ram to the second memory slot. I have tested three different ram components 512MB and 256MB and none of them work. Is there a way to fix or replace the so that I can use both...

Have you tried reversing the two ram modules? Or better than that, install two new 1GB modules. And if you do not want to do that make sure the Slot 1 has the larger of the modules. Do you know that the memory modules both work?

ECS GF 8200A does not support more than 3 gig ddr2 memory

Is the mainboard capable of supporting more than 3 GB?

If it is then maybe you have the wrong kind of memory, or the slot is bad.

Take all your memory out and just try with the new stick in one of the good slots. If it works then we know the memory is OK so then try it in the "bad" slot.

Wont boot 2 windows xp home when 2 gig memory installed, works with 1 gig, tried both slots with both 1 gig sticks.Screen goes black.

Seems the memory is not comatable with the motherboard. Replace the old memory and visit http://www.crucial.com, they have a scanner tool which will confirm what mem can be installed.

Upgrading acer laptop RAM

Hi,
You Can Actually Upgrade This To 2 Gig Memory.
Each Slot Will Take 1 A Gig Strip.
I,d suggest Buying another 256 mb Strip, To Put Into Slot 2.
Or Buy a 512mb ( Half Gig ) Which Will Give you 750mb With your Existing Strip Already In There. ** Recommend 1 Gigabyte Max** 2 gig of Ram in This Baby Would Probably Start Glowing.
You Can Buy DDR/266/333 In 256/512/1 Gig Strips. These Are Commonly Known As SD-RAM-Modules.

Gateway sb-4100-b won't recognize new memory

Check the owners manual of your computer for the correct installation of 2 sticks of memory, this can be critical on computers with 2 banks of 2 slots, it will also tell you the maximum ram that will work. If you do not have the manual, go to the manufactures website and then go to the support link, and browse for memory installation. BPCS
