Question about Coby MP-C582 MP3 Player
I have plugged into USB port but cannot get it to play.
There are several reasons why this could happen. Let's start with the premise that your mp3 is operational (not defective internally in any way). Here are some reasons:
a) Your mp3 player charges while connected to the USB port, but, there is a catch. It has to be self powered; in other words, it has to be the USB port directly attached to the computer not through a hub.
b) As stated in the manual, it may take in some cases a few minutes for your computer to recognize the hardware connected through the USB port, so, plug it in and be patient.
c) If your computer runs windows 98, you need to download and install a driver that will allow your system to recognize the mp3. If that is the OS in your computer, click on this link to take you to Coby's support site and download the driver.
Hope this helps. Let me know.

Also Make sure it is not USB 1, as it does not transmit power through it.

Hold the play button down for 5 long seconds then release and wait , red light should come on. th en hit play again to play. switch must be on to charge, so it says in my manual and mine worked that way.
