Question about Sharp R-402J Microwave Oven
I came home and noticed the display on the microwave said 'ERROR'. The keypad doesn't work. I unplugged it for a minute and plugged it back in. Now the display flashes 00:00. The only button that works (and makes a noise) is the night light. Any suggestions before I take it in for repair?
Well guess what! MINE JUST STARTED ON FIRE! Unbelievable, I'm awaiting a reply from Sharp. A fire ball came out the right side, inside and now rests a hole.

It sounds like your electronic board has malfunctioned. It may have to be replaced, sometime it is cheaper to buy a new oven. Technician's fees and parts may be more than it it worth.

Hello Arold - Typically, error code SE indicates a shorted keypad. Try resetting the microwave by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. This usually clears most false error codes. Wait approximately ten minutes and if the error code does not clear, I would recommend contacting a professional to proceed further. Most likely the touch keypad on the unit will need replacing.
