I also have an Acer Aspire 5920. The webcam works with Skype and Windows Live Messenger. They are both free. I installed them and then opened the applications. After the applications were running I used the webcam icon or button and then a setup process took place.

That was it. I have also used Camtasia to record myself on the computer using the webcam.
